“Cozy place and kind staff!”

The staff were so friendly and kind! Beds were super comfortable and good storage for your items in your bunk. The whole building is beautiful and offers a great opportunity to experience a traditional Japanese guesthouse. The neighbourhood is lovely to wander as well!

“Authentic experience of an historic Japanese ryokan with delightful hosts.”

We wanted to experience an authentic ryokan and this guesthouse really provided that. All the idiosyncrasies were explained. Old properties have these! The common space was very nice with games and also cutlery and crockery. The location was great and easy to utilise public transport. Walking distance to the imperial palace. The neighbourhood was lovely. Lots of historic hides and nice gardens. Close to an excellent supermarket as well!

I stayed in the guesthouse for one night. The stuff was extremely friendly and supportive. Its a traditional and very clean accommodation. I felt very cozy and really enjoyed my stay there. Would book it again anytime. Huge recommendation!

Guesthouse Kioto was absolutely wonderful. Our stay in this Classic Japanese townhouse was convenience, comfort and memorable.

Very well kept old building with tatami rooms, wonderful quiet neighbourhood full of great finds, sweet owners. Very good facilities, while the entryway space is traditionally not heated everything that needed to be warm in winter was warm (and the shower was excellent, rooms really well heated by ac, comfy blankets)

“Small, cute and unique stay in Japan!”

Great if you want a more traditional stay, comfy beds which are spacious, though the top bunk is very high! Chill vibes in the tamati mat common space (good if you are okay sitting on the ground!) and they are heated so great in winter! Friendly staff too.

We had a wonderful time with the incredible staff and the incredibly comfy shared spaces.

The small internal garden and our room on the upper floor overlooking the garden were our favorite parts!

The fact that it's an old typical house makes it very cozy and it feels really like a home. I enjoyed it a lot and I'll definitely go back!

“Lovely stay at a beautiful guesthouse”

Fantastic guesthouse. The rooms are lovely as are the communal spaces with a great hot shower. The owners were very welcoming and helpful with suggestions for things to do and places to eat. Would definitely recommend staying here and will look to book again if we are in Kyoto. It is very close to many bus stops taking into Kyoto, Osaka and onwards.

It was a lovely renovated traditional house and the view to the garden was beautiful. The surroundings were nice and quiet. Many good restaurants available in the area.

“Lovely traditional guesthouse”

The couple running the place are lovely and accommodating. They gave us the rundown of the rules and gave us a tour of the place and our room. They even gave us a map of recommendations of restaurants and spots which was very helpful! I visited the recommended bathhouse and visited it both nights I stayed at the guesthouse. For an authentic experience staying in a Japanese home I highly recommend staying here. Just take care to keep volume down past 11pm, the walls are very thin!
