Overview
This 19th-century converted rural farmhouse is located 500 metres from the French border. Set 2 km from the town of Zugarramurdi, it offers pretty gardens, a terrace and free Wi-Fi. Casa Rural Haitzetxea’s cosy, heated rooms feature traditional décor and exposed stone walls. All have wooden floors and a private bathroom. Breakfast is served daily in the house and personalised dinners can be provided by the friendly owners. There is also a large lounge area with fireplace, reading area, TV and board games. The property offers tourist information and organises various trips. The Witch Museum in Zugarramurdi, famous for the Basque Witch Trials, is 5 minutes’ drive away, as are the Zugarramurdi Caves. Haitzetxea offers free private parking and is 20 km from the Bertiz Nature Reserve. Biarritz and its airport can be reached by car in around 40 minutes.

Exceptional location with splendid views across the valley. Incredibly clean and elegantly decorated. On top of that, the meals prepared are delicious! 100% recommendable to anyone who wants to explore the surrounding area.

It was a wonderful stay with Toni and Virginia who are kindest and most knowledgeable of hosts. We had a great conversation with Toni over superb dinner. There is a wonderful walk in the area with mountain views and a magic forest.

“Just fantastic!!”
Amazing hosts - fun and attentive! Beautiful house and spectacular location. Great for hiking, with Tony providing detailed instructions. We walked through all kinds of beautiful landscapes. Great food cooked by Virgi each night!! Excellent value.

“Quiet and beautiful location!”
Toni and Virginia were amazing hosts and made us feel so comfortable in their home. The house was beautiful inside and out with a gorgeous view of France from their patio. Toni's homemade croissants in the morning were delicious. We loved it and will definitely recommend it to others and come again if we have the opportunity.
