“Extraordinary”

We are so thankful we chose to stay here. First of all, the location is fantastic, being just a few minutes' walk from the West Gate is incredibly handy. I highly recommend using this entrance, as it’s much less crowded and touristy than the East Gate. The property itself is beautiful. We loved the common area where we had breakfast and dinner; it creates such a friendly, open, and "homey" atmosphere. The rooms are nicely designed and spotless. Merry even gave us a free upgrade because it was available and let us choose our favorite room, so sweet! The food is simply delicious. We stayed for three nights and ate dinner here every single evening because there was no reason to go anywhere else. Merry and her helpers cook amazingly using fresh products from her garden, and she always makes sure to prepare something you’ll love. The breakfast is also great, with both Western options and noodles available. Merry truly cares about what she does, and it shows. We arrived without a plan for the park, and she organized everything for us. She also arranged our pick-up from the station and our transport when it was time to leave, which was so convenient. She has great connections with local drivers, ensuring a better price and much less hassle for her guests. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, she assisted us with every detail. Her knowledge of the park is incredible, you can't go wrong with her advice. We couldn’t have done it without her! This stay was the highlight of our travel. We already miss you, Merry! Exceptionally good homestay! While the accomodation is great, the host is what makes this homestay special. Merry will ensure that your visit to the Zhanjiajie park / Tianmen mountain will run smoothly by arranging tickets / giving you detailed and flexible routes to follow / helping to arrange transport where needed etc. She knows the park very well, so can adjust routes day by day to make sure you see the best bits while keeping the schedule manageable. This level of help ensures you make the most of your time in Zhangjiajie. The accommodation itself was clean, comfortable and quiet, with a water dispenser and electric blankets in our room, tea and coffee and snacks were always available, and the included breakfast was tasty and filling. A freshly cooked evening meal is available which has generous portions and is tasty. The location is perfect. Just a few minutes walk from the West gate entrance to the Zhangjiajie park.

“Delightful stay with lovely host”

Zhuxhi was a delightful host. She went above and beyond to make our stay a success, giving us recommendations for routes and activities, booking tickets and transportation, and preparing wonderful meals for us. The location at the quieter west gate was perfect as it allowed us to avoid crowds at entry and exit to the national park.

The owner is really nice and friendly. I was travelling with a partner. She upgraded our room for free, helped as plan and reserve tickets for the park and when I got scratched by a monkey in the park she helped me find a vaccination point for rabies within the park so me and my partner continued with the plan for the day in less than an hours.

Merry is one of the most professional hosts we have had on our trip. We felt well taken care of. She helped us organize the trip individually accourding to our wishes and the current situation in the national park. Took all our preferences in consideration. Helped us to do the laundry for free. The food is great and the location near the west entrance of the national park ist perfect. Our stay was in November and we didn't have to wait in a queue for the entrance as opposed to those entering from the south gate. This home stay is definitely recommened for a trip in the Zhangjiajie national park.

“Super nice experience with a lovely host”

Mary, our host, was absolutely amazing. She was super nice and instantly made us feel at home. We will certainly miss her home cooked meals (huge portions that would fuel us for the day or embrace us after a long day in the foggy mountains). In the afternoon/evenings she would greet us with some freshly brewed tea, seasonal fruits and snacks. Additionally she very kindly made our visits to the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and Tianmen Mountan super convenient by planning out everything for every possible scenario and prebooking our tickets and also preparing bottled water and rain coats for us. There is a washing machine, but our host offered to do the laundry for us. The rooms were very homey and clean and had everything you needed and even more.

Mary the host is worth every dollar. She gives you a very personalised experience mapping out the national park in a way that will suit your abilities. She gives you step by step routes to take and you can message her anytime if you need help while you’re in the park trying to find your way. She took extremely good care of us even ordering a driver at the end and picking us up at the park so that we could still make our train. The meals are extremely good - Chinese home style cuisine but taking into account each guests tastes and requirements.

Mary is the best host one could hope for. This stay was clearly the best of our entire trip, we enjoyed it so much. She helped us organise the visits to the park and tianmen mountain and cooked homemade meals for us. I have never been treated so well at an hotel.

“Just perfect, unforgettable experience”

I came here 6 years ago and gave it 10 points back then, and I give it 10 points again. Mary’s hospitality is something that everyone should experience, tailored itineraries, help buying tickets and making reservations, delicious breakfasts and dinners. Besides, the location is ideal since you’re by the forest park west gate, which is the least crowded of all. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Of the six places we stayed during our trip to China, this guesthouse was truly exceptional. The place is beautifully decorated and clean, but what really makes it special is Mary. She was incredibly helpful, planning our three-day itinerary in the area and even rescuing us when we found ourselves without tickets for the Glass Bridge. The food Mary prepared for us, both breakfast and dinner, was delicious. One of our daughters is gluten-free, and Mary always remembered this, preparing special dishes just for her. This was the best guesthouse we stayed at in China.

Our stay at Merry’s Homestay was a really special part of our trip. She made us so welcome and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Her home-cooked meals were delicious and beautifully presented. She provided us with daily plans for exploring the national park which saved us a lot of time and effort, and also meant we got to see some less-visited areas away from the tourist crowds. We loved our stay and would definitely come back if we are in this region of China again.

Mary's homestay is first class and we enjoyed every minute there. First of all, Mary is a wonderful hostess with a deep knowledge of Zhangjiajie National Park. She planned a two-day tour of the park for us, which allowed us to experience the beauty of the park. Better than any tour guide, because we never had to queue because we always went against the crowds. Secondly, the house is just wonderful. A very warm and comfortable place to stay. Breakfast and dinner change daily and were beyond delicious. Mary went out of her way to make our stay memorable. She also helped us with laundry and organising a trip to Furong. The house was also spotlessly clean. We will definitely come back when in Zhangjiajie to stay with Mary and her beautiful little dog ❤️ Thank you for everything!
