A really authentic Kasbah and Dra Valley experience!

An amazing Kasbah with an incredibly authentic feel, next to a beautiful palm grove with lots of cultural plants and wild birds. Great helpful staff - cooked very nice food, showed us round and gave us a real understanding of the history of the Kasbah and the agriculture in this oasis.

Extraordinary

This building has been restored as part of a community project and the caretaker takes great pride in showing people round. He doesn’t speak English but does his best and if you speak French I’m sure you will get good stories from him. The mosque which is part of the Kasbar has been restored and he will show you. This is a 300 year place in the desert, we went at winter and could fill hot water bottles with boiling tap water, don’t expect an easy shower experience and the steps are for able bodied people. Food is great, they catered for us well and we are Veggie. We stayed two nights and walked in the oasis and enjoyed it. Hikers could try to climb the mountain next to the property or you could drive to other Kasbars or Zagoza and see the kilns, but we just enjoyed the town. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing stay in the Kasbah, it was so interesting to stay in a traditional house and experience the Moroccan culture this way. We also had dinner there which was absolutely delicious.

Hidden and beautiful, one of a kind experience!

Our night at the wonderful and ancient Kasbah was a one of a kind and wonderful experience. It is beautifully restored by the very hospitable owner who took us on a walk around and shared his personal experience and history of the place (in French). Especially the visit of the restored mosque was unique, a highlight that would be full of tourists if located in any other (big) city. The breakfast and dinner in the beautiful and peaceful garden might be the best we've had on our trip in Morocco. The WiFi works well, but only in a specific spot near reception. For us this was absolutely not an issue and part of the charm of this very rustic, historical building.

Magical southern Morocco

Interesting and original place, worth recommending. Beautiful sunrise in the morning. :) Very good breakfast - Moroccan pancakes from this place stole my heart. Until the end of my stay in Morocco, I was looking for Moroccan pancakes every day.

A very special place in an outstanding landscape and a lot of history. The host is very nice and welcoming. He has restored parts of the old Kasbah and the old mosque. If you are interested in the old building techniques and history of such a village you can learn a lot. The accommodation itself is rather simple but very charming. The food was very delicious. Even the bread was self made.

The village and the atmosphere was superb. Much better than the main hotel nearby. Fantastic view from roof top terrace. One of our best stay in Morocco, unexpected. Food was very homely; made their own bread, vegetables from their garden and a special dates treacle or dip for breakfast.

The host is really welcoming and always smiling. We received a free tour in the renovated old Kasbah. The food was perfect. The structure is unique and located in a perfect spot to make a pause in the road between Merzouga and Marrakech.

We had booked here as a place to stop on the way back from the desert to Marrakech. We didn't really have any expectations, but it us away! The kasbah dates back to the 1600s and a large part is ruined. The hotel is in a restored section. It is largely restored to an original state, with mud and straw walls and floors. It's not luxurious but it is comfortable and very atmospheric. The architecture and gardens are beautiful and you can walk around the ruined grounds too. Our evening meal was delicious. We wished we had stayed a couple of nights because the village is very non-touristic and there was more to explore eg. places to swim. We had forgotten we had to pay in cash and unfortunately had run out because the previous cash machine we had tried to use was broken. When we realised we were already at the hotel and it was night. The owner was very kind about it, and told us not to worry. In the morning he came with us by car to the next town and we got cash out there. He did this to save us the journey of having to go back on ourselves to the kasbah again. Really understanding and very kind of him to do so. Can't recommend this place enough.
