“Fantastic onsen hotel”

It was the most comfortable onsen hotel I had ever stayed in. Although there was a snow storm outside, it was comfortable, warm and relaxing inside. The onsens were well maintained and clean, and the room was big and very comfortable, with a massage chair and lots of food. The hotel dinner and breakfast were superb and declious.

Big beautiful clean rooms and facilities. Gorgeous view with fall leaves, blue bridge, river and Zao Ropeway nearby. Several onsens in the hotel - public bath (indoor and outdoor), private baths (reserve at front desk for ~1100yen+), foot bath. Free onsens at 2 sister hotels nearby - you can get the pass from the front desk. Good buffet breakfast (paid) with allergens clearly labelled. Free ice cream, drinks and snacks from ~3-9PM. Staff are very polite, kind and thoughtful. Laundry machines are affordable (300 yen per 3kg load). Plenty of parking out front.

Loved it from the get go. Beautiful scenery, handy location for the ropeway, nice traditional rooms, very kind staff, tasty buffet style breakfast, lovely onsen.

The hotel, staff, and onsen were all amazing. The hotel is located right next to the ski slope, and the breakfast had a massive variety. Onsen were clean and well maintained. Overall, it's an amazing hotel we will be back.

The beautiful onsens and excellent service staff. We want to thank Tinnu San ( from Bangladesh) at the reception of Kokusai hotel for his excellent service and English, and for bringing us dinner to the room when we could not find food in Zao Onsen town. Thank you so much!

It's near cable car station and it provides hotel pick up at Yamagata station which is convenient for those who don't drive.

Very near to ski

Wonderful staff who helped and answered to queries to their best despite the language barrier. The dinner was prepared with much creativity.The breakfast was filled with variety of Japanese dishes, breads and freshly fried sunny side-up with bacon.

Nice western influence on the property. Keeping the Japanese charm with some good comforts - if you don’t like tatami beds this is exactly what you need. Natural onsen which is quite good. Easy access to the ropeway for some lovely views, pick up from the bus terminal.
