Facility, Location, Meal

The location is a little far from ski slopes, but the driver of a mini bus of the hotel kindly gave us a ride to remote slopes (Uwano-dai) in the morning and then picked us up there in the late afternoon. All staff members were kind and flexible.

we opted the package which include breakfast and dinner, the dinner is really wonderful, my family members said it’s japanese fine dining, it’s nicely decorated, i think the chef use his or her heart and put a lot of effort when preparing the food. the indoor onsen is nice. staff are nice.

Lovely location with exceptional staff that went out of their way to help me find good onsen to visit.

Meals here were exceptional! Local specialties were used and the staff would go out to explain each dish and also check in on you from time to time. Shuttle services to the bus terminal and ropeway are provided too so it is a nice touch. They would also put in local snacks in their room after each day so we got to have a taste of them. Staff here were really responsive and helpful too!

“Great large traditional room, and ideal for a good hot bath after a ski day”

- Old style Japanese room (tatamis and all) - The included onsens (sulfure and regular) in the hotel! - not (too) from the ski lifts - the delicious breakfast - very helpful staff - compressed air to get rid of the stuck snow at the entrance

- The onsen, especially the sulphur onsen, help muscle recovery from skiing very much - Food, both breakfast and dinner are great, balance diet that kept my whole family very healthy during the stay - Staff, staff especially those at dining place, are warm and attentive

The hospitality and service provided by the staff - they sent us to the bus station when needed, allowed us to use the bath after coming from an overnight bus, and changed our rooms when the heater wasn't working.

I loved the kindness of the staff, the room and the breakfast. Women at the front desk are absolutely lovely. The onsen was great, only the indoor onsen was working, though. They also have a sulphur water onsen with an open window to colorful trees.

“Exceptional food & services, pleasant stay for a ski trip”

A traditional Japanese hotel with tatami futon mats. Wonderful staff who were super helpful and always making sure that I was taken care of. They even had English instructions on how to prepare my sukiyaki / shabushabu. The food was awesome, I stayed for 3 nights and the courses were never repeated. They offered discounted lift pass and rental so just ask. They also had shuttle service to the bus terminal & ski lift, but it was just a 5-min walk to the ski lift anyway. (The lady at tourist information at the bus terminal was nice enough to call the hotel for me for pickup when I was asking for a phone booth.) Walking to the main streets wasn't too bad as well so I took a stroll out there every day. Loved the onsens especially after a long day of snowboarding. Overall a very pleasant stay for a ski trip.

Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We especially liked the two onsen options and enjoyed the sulphurbath.

Japan traditional hotel. Dinner and Breakfast are really good ! Hot spring all good Hotel staff are super nice and friendly even they can't understand English. I requested booking a local tour and they are pleasure for help By the way, they have two adorable dogs😍 Everything all good. I am love them

The staff there are super nice and friendly, answering all the stupid questions from us. The breakfast (pre-ordered) was sooo good with a lot of specialities. We regret not reserving for the dinner as the breakfast was way beyond our expectations. The onsen was good and comfortable as well! Will consider stay here again if come to Zao Onsen next time.
