Overview
The Carmen guest house is located just 200 metres from the historic centre of Zafra, in Extremadura. Its attractive, air-conditioned rooms all have free Wi-Fi, private bathrooms and flat-screen TV. The Hostal Carmen’s restaurant, Rogelio, offers traditional, home-cooked Extremeduran dishes. It also offers a daily changing set menu, and has a bar. Each floor of the Carmen Hostal can be accessed by lift, and the hotel has a 24-hour reception as well as free luggage storage. Zafra Railway Station is just over 1 km away. The Carmen guest house also offers nearby secure parking.

“Perfect location, friendly and professional staff.”
There is an on-site restaurant/bar/café, which was great. We had tapas when we arrived, and ate in the restaurant in the evening. Food very good and excellent, friendly service from the hotel and the bar/restaurant staff. The en-suite bathroom was modern and spotlessly clean. Basic toiletries were provided too, and the shower was excellent. The location was perfect - near Plaza España and the main town, but not on a very busy road, so it was quiet, and all the main sights were within easy walking distance.

Wonderful apartments in Cordoba's historic district. Our host Antonio was super helpful and friendly, making us feel at home and giving us many recommendations on things to do and where to eat. will be back.

“Basic but everything you need”
Good location short 10 min walk from the main square in the old town (though not in the old town.) Friendly staff. Rooms were basic but clean and renovations looked recent.

“A most enjoyable overnight stay”
The hostal was easy to find and I managed to park on the street about 50 metres away. It has a separate hotel reception and a ground floor bar/restaurant, Restaurante Rogelio, with an outside street-side terrace. It is located near the large Parque de La Paz and a short stroll from the small historic area of town. The bedroom and bath/shower rooms were large and modern and very comfortable, accessed by lift. The restaurant offers a 10€ menu (although I think it is only available for hotel guests) with a large choice of starters and main courses which also includes a dessert and drink. I was hoping to sit outside on the lively terrace but the menu had to be eaten inside which, whilst it was rather quiet (apart from the television of course), wasn’t a problem. The service was excellent. I had my coffee and tostada con tomate y aceite in the bar before setting off in the morning. Hostal Carmen is good value for money and I enjoyed staying here and would recommend it.
