Traditional Ryokan experience. Rooms and hot spring facilities were great. I would definitely visit again if I was in the area

The room is nicely sized, the onsens are really nice to soak in! The male staff/?boss kindly shuttles to the train station which really helps when u are carrying all the snowgear

“Cosy and warm traditional stay near Echigo Yuzawa”

Cosy and warm ryokan, with 24hour hot spring bath, and a traditional breakfast. We are a group of 5 with young kids, and the room was spacious enough even with the futon laid out. The boss was also very nice to pick and send to the train station, even sending us to Gala Yuzawa! There was also a toy area at the reception, which provided my kids with quite a lot of play time!

The onsen is a gem, while an older building everything is kept in immaculate condition. The staff was even kind enough to drive me to the station as it was raining heavily at my departure - the distance is close enough to make it in about 10 minutes on foot as well though.

This place was such a nice stay we definitely recommend it the facilities were very clean the staff were very friendly and hospitable, they even let us keep our luggage there while we attended Fuji rock festival. We would definitely stay here again!

It's a beautiful ryokan with very friendly owners and staff and near wonderfull waterfalls. Very good Japanese breakfast and lovely onsen.

Futon and pillow combo is a bit tough if you are western and used to a mattress. The hotel is a bit “local” I’d say, probably not massively suitable to non Japanese.

Lovely old style hotel with hot spring. Clean room and good service. Next is a excellent Japanese bar (one-minute walk). It is wonderful for family with elevator and kid's playroom.

“Maximise ski time and stay in traditional On Sen very helpful staff”

When you arrive the Ryokan is dedicated to getting you on the slopes as fast as possible. Have arrangement that they call a minibus which takes you to the ski hire rental and then another minibus will take you on to one of the two ski start points

“English speaking ryokan with a lovely outdoor onsen”

A nice little hotel in japanese style, with friendly staff that also could speak english. The outdoor onsen was lovely and surrounded by a little japanese garden.

Great place to stay - well run and organised, clean, restful and peaceful environment. Enjoyed the onsen facilities very much and the amenities are good. Daily Japanese breakfast with plenty to eat, tasty food but after 4 days we were hoping for some variety. Service staff were all very accommodating to our requests, friendly and genuinely eager to please; despite limited spoken English. Location is very central but away from traffic noise; and close to great dining and drinking places in town. A relatively short walk from the train station as well; but could take a bit of effort if you have a lot of luggage.

Staff were wonderful. Helped us book a taxi to our next accommodation and assisted us in saving a great deal of money by helping.

Spacious, very clean rooms. Great staff, fantastic breakfast. Great locality.

Traditional Japanese room. 24hr access to hot spa/Onsen. Owners were very friendly and happy to help. Close to station, restaurants and convenient store.
