Overview
Kagura House is situated a 4-hour drive away from Narita International Airport, and an 18-minute bus ride away from Echigo-Yuzawa Station, which provides access to the Joetsu Shinkansen railway line. The property offers ski lift tickets at a discount to staying guests. The popular Kagura Ski Resort gondola and the rest stop Michi-no-Eki Mitsumata are both 300 metres away. Kaido no Yu hot spring is situated right beside the rest stop. Situated 1500 metres above sea level, Kagura Ski Resort's ski season extends for a long period starting from November all the way through to May, and summer brush skiing is available between July and October. Kagura Ski resort is connected to Naeba Ski Resort and the Tashiro ski area. At 2,000 metres above sea level, guests can enjoy views of the renowned Mt. Naeba flower field. The Kiyotsu-gawa River flows near the property, and activities that can be enjoyed in the area include hiking, trekking and river fishing. Autumn leaves can be enjoyed after the summer season.

It's close to the bus stop so it's convenient to head back to Echigo-Yuzawa or wait for the bus headed to Naeba SKi Resort for Fujirock.

My friends and I chose this place because there was not a lot of availability. It was nice that we could check-in so late. We simply picked up a key from a basket. Pretty average stay, nothing to write home about, but it did the job. We only stayed one night, so we can't speak too much on the matter.

“Cozy stay with very kind and helpful people”
The staff was very nice. The house is right next to the slopes, you can rent everything you need for snowboarding (e.g. board, shoes, helmet, goggles, gloves, jacket, pants). For ski rental we had to go to another place (many of them around in <5min walking distance). The guy running this place gave us even his own pants, because he didn't have rental pants that were tall enough. Sleeping situation: On foutons, was alright, very nice blankets and an oven which was cozy. There is a tiny little bath, but we hardly for 1 person (at least the ladies section), so we went to the public bath instead. There are not many restaurants open (in our off season time actually none) so bring food or have a car ready to go to another town.
