Overview
Yufuin Country Road Youth Hostel is a completely non-smoking property with free Wi-Fi throughout, a public hot-spring bath and a multi-lingual staff. Located a 5-minute taxi ride from JR Yufuin Train Station, it offers private and dormitory-style rooms with shared bathrooms. Guests can sleep in a bunk bed or try traditional sleeping arrangements, with Japanese futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. Toilets are shared, and bathing is done at the shared hot-spring baths. All rooms have a flat-screen TV and air conditioning, and dormitory rooms have lockers. Towels and Yukata robes can be rented for a fee, and toothbrushes can be purchased. The property is an 8-minute walk from the Artegio museum and art/entertainment complex. It is an 8-minute drive from Lake Kinrin and Kyushu Yufuin Mingeimura folk craft village. On-site parking is free. In addition to Japanese, English, French and Spanish are spoken by the staff. Free tea and coffee are provided at the lounge, where you can also find a coin-operated internet PC. A coin-operated clothes washer and dryer are available. Breakfast and dinner are available at an extra cost, but must be reserved at least 1 day in advance. The menu varies daily and features a variety of cuisines.

In-house natural onsen pool make privacy and shower easy. Feels like homely stay and I like the lady boss she is accommodative and soft spoken.

The owners were very nice, the rooms were clean, and the beds were comfortable. The owner even gave us a ride to the station in the morning. The hot springs are also a huge plus. I definitely recommend this hostel.

“I felt incredibly refreshed from this little town and recommend this hostel.”
The view from the lounge area was incredible. The perfect view to drink tea, journal, write poetry, or plan your next stops. Nice dining area. Comfy beds. Cute onsen. Close to mount yufu which is a great climb, highly recommend.

Yufuin Country Road Youth Hostel feels less like a hostel and more like a warm, welcoming mountain retreat. The couple running the place have clearly poured a lot of heart into it—you can really sense their personalities through the thoughtful decor, communal touches, and overall atmosphere. One of my personal highlights was flipping through their collection of vinyl records, which added a lovely nostalgic charm. The use of a loudspeaker for announcements was surprisingly inventive and gave the place a bit of character. The onsen is fantastic, and the setting makes you feel properly tucked away in nature. The climb up the hill to get there is no joke—especially in the summer heat—but it somehow added to the feeling of escape, like conquering your own little Everest.

They stole my heart. I just can't stop thinking about this beautiful town and hostel. If I ever return to Japan, I definitely have to come back here. The staff are so friendly. It's an unforgettable and very Japanese experience. They're just fantastic.

Amazing service - dinner for 1.200, breakfast for 750 The host offers to drive you to yufuin station at 8 or 9, very appreciated The hotel has onsen downstairs, there's even music playing! This was great and relaxing The spaces are warm and cozy, super pleasant stay! There was also a parking lot

The hostel is located in a beautiful area and is quite remote but they tell you what times you can catch a bus from the center and can give you a to the center in the morning. We enjoyed to evening walking tours and the onsen was nice too! The house was beautiful and we had nice chats with other guests.
