“Quaint Japanese home stay on the edge of town.”

Typical,rural Japanese pension.Charming owner who was very hospitable.Basic facilities but ckean,warm and lots of charm.

The experience was exceptional. The landlord is amazingly friendly and so kind. I spent an unforgettable moment in cocochi house.

The lady running the accomodation was absolutely wonderful. One of the best stays I have ever had. Family atmosphere in old Japanese house. Perfect!

It was all so pretty and the okasan was the nicest person ever!! So lovely she even took me with her car to show me around the town!! And prepared the most delicious breakfast I ever had. I really recommend!!!

“Do NOT book this place”

We couldn’t find the property and when we called, she only speaks Japanese. Thankful she came to pick us from the station. It was so cold in the property and the electric blankets were not working.

“Peaceful relaxing stay in the rural farmland away from the tourist trap and traffic of Yufuin”

The host was amazingly helpful - translating everything! The breakfasts were oishii! The rural scenic location away from the bustle of Yufuin was great. Cycling and walking from the house to Yufuin via the river (go South of the house first, then East to Yufuin) was an absolute pleasure.

Lovely guest house a little outside of Yufuin. Its a very pleasant cycle into town. Delicious traditional Japanese breakfast and tea. The shower/bath is very relaxing

Awesome stay. The owner is sooo nice. She also picked me up at night from the bus station. She would also give you a ride to yufuin if you want to. The breakfast was soooo oishi, everything clean, nice area around also if you don't have a car. I was the only guest but it was totally OK after 4 days of tokio city life exactly what I was looking for. Nice hikes around and a lot of hot springs. I will definitely come back. Thank you miki san for everything <3

“Traditional Japanese House with a kind host!!”

The host lady was very kind and very attentive to our needs. Very patient with translating via her smartphone. She was able to make us some very nice dinner upon our arrival when the kids were clearly too tired to go out for food We were in a traditional Japanese house with a break away little bathroom!! What a pleasant experience!!

“Nice and picturesque stay”

The location is probably the most amazing part of this place. It is located just outside (touristy) Yufuin and going there from either Yufuin station or Minami-Yufuin station will provide you with an amazing walk and view. The rooms themselves are spacious and clean. The room also come with a kotatsu so comfort is guaranteed upon arrival.

Miki is a very nice host: her Japanese breakfast was delicious. I loved the view out of the veranda. The house is outside town so very quiet.

Mika was a great host. Great little homestay, breakfast each morning was wonderful and homely. Beautiful surroundings and a lovely country walk into Yufuin. Mika would sometimes give us a lift. Lovely little onsen in the garden all rustic. Mkka also helped us wash our clothes.

The sweet obaachan of the manor was always eager to help and was so warm and cheerful that she exemplified the countryside hospitality that Japan is known for. She provided you with hot tea when you first arrived and she was up early in the morning to hand-prep the breakfast bento boxes which came with the stay. The food was comfort food and delicious and the room was well-equipped even for being an old country house. The temperature fell and it began to snow when I arrived but my room had a portable heater, a heating mat, and a kotatsu along with a comfortable futon and thick blankets so I didn't have to worry about the cold. On the day I checked out, she offered me a ride into the city and dropped me off up at the top of the main village so I could sightsee and make my way down to the station which was an easy, downhill stroll. I highly recommend the Cocochi House for the slow-paced, low-maintenance, calm energy type of traveler who can really appreciate the homey atmosphere and countryside vibes and just chill out. Just a note: this is an old, traditional Japanese style country house which means the walls are literally paper thin. Quiet and well-mannered individuals are a must here. It is also a 30 minute walk from the station and it goes pretty far out of the town so make sure to pick up anything you need in the town centre first. If you're arriving late at night, there are no street lights so unless there's a bright moon, you'll be walking/driving in darkness. Overall, it was the perfect place to heal and reset and I will definitely be back.
