“A Once in a Lifetime, Authentic Jungle Extravaganza”
The tours were exceptional: this is a safari extravaganza. Every excursion was full of incredible wildlife in its natural habitat. Lagoons, channels and the confluence of the Amazon with the Ucayali River. The bird life is phenomenal- constant eagles, hawks and turkey vultures. This and kingfishers: up close humming birds and mosquito bats. There are sloths and armadillos and anteaters. Just mind blowing plants and weather. The guide, Gomer, was well informed and caring- he also told me loads of local myths and information about Shamanism- which I asked about as I am a writer. The food was good- just be clear what you want and they likely have it in the back. I requested porridge, muesli and real coffee and it all materialised after the first day. The village is sweet, and it’s great to know the money supports life there. They seem to have a very democratic society and it seemed very idyllic in many ways.

“It was good to experience how the people live in the jungle. Enjoyed seeing the animals.”
All the food was good with fresh fruit and natural ingredients. The activities were good nd enjoyed seeing all the animals in their own habitat.

The staff are exceptional. My guide Joel came and picked me up from the airport and took me to the lodge in safety, which is approximately 2-3 hours travel. During my stay I felt completely safe as a solo traveller. The food was fresh and amazing every time with freshly made juices from local fruit in every meal. The lodge is beautiful and the rooms feature your own balcony with an incredible view. Regarding the facilities, the lodge is located on the river and is built with natural materials, so of course, expect to see insects. You are in the jungle after all! The mosquito nets do a really good job though, so I didn't have any trouble sleeping. Expect to hear wildlife noises from your room, although I quite enjoyed waking up with the sound of birds every day. The activities were super organised, and they offer a big variety for day and night experiences. All of them are wildlife experts, you get a personal guide, a personalised tour and a boat driver at all times. Don't forget to tip your guides! They will totally deserve it as well. They try their hardest to make your experience an amazing one! If you are crazy about wildlife, I recommend Joel. He could spot all sorts of animals from a distance, so I got to see a lot of different species. Both, with Wilson, the canoe driver, they had amazing coordination. I totally recommend the lodge and I would do it all over again. When you get there, you will see there are other lodges as well, which seemed to target tourists more, but not sure either. I am happy I chose this one and got to support their community!

“A true gem in the Amazon rainforest.”
We loved everything and have fallen in love with Libertad and the story of the community and the lodge. The area is very remote, so peace is granted. The staff is fantastic - from the guides, especially ours, Remigio, to the boat drivers, the kitchen staff, Manuel, el jefe, Oli and the rest of the people involved. Tourism brings in money with which Manuel and his team can continue to provide materials to build new infrastructure for Libertad as they have done in the past - by bringing purified water a few years ago, building the local school, or paving the streets. Everything they do is for the benefit of the community. The money raised is also used for scholarships and incentives so that children in the community can continue their studies. We spotted other lodges across the river during our stay, but none of these is investing their earnings in people beyond the owners; all of them are private businesses. I’m not sure where I read that someone said that the food provided at the lodge wasn’t enough; I had issues finishing everything on my plate. It was delicious and very healthy! There’s always some protein, carbs, vegetables, legumes and fruit, always paired with fresh Amazon fruit juice. We had the chance to go when the river was still covering most of the area, so our excursion mainly were by boat. We could see many animals, learn about medicinal plants, see the Milky Way at night, watch the sunset surrounded by dolphins and have a dip where the Amazon was born. We managed to fish some piranha that we then ate. I now feel like I can survive by myself! You’re in the jungle, so you need to go mentally prepared for bugs and critters. You may be uncomfortable because you’re not used to them, but this is the reality of the place you’re going to visit The Amazon has dangers, but none of the critters you may find in the lodge are dangerous.

“Great experience but be aware of the living condition”
The location was amazing, everyday there were activities you can choose in the morning, afternoon, evening. You will have a dedicated guide and a boat driver to take you for amazing activities in the jungle or on the river. The meals were very tasty with fresh juice every meal.

“Once in a lifetime”
This is a very special find. With the booking you get your own guide and you choose what activities you do in the day // evening. You have a 5* breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as tea, coffee and water whenever you want. We had the most amazing guide Remi who was so knowledgeable. I had a bites all over and he got some natural remedies for me and the bites went down very quickly. This property also gives it’s proceeds to libertad village to send kids to school and people to the hospital if they need it which it really cool! The vibe is social if that’s what you want or not if you want to keep to yourself. We had the most amazing experience here and will recommend it to anyone who is going to Peru.

My guide Larry met me at the airport and we travelled to the lodge. Although it was 3 hours time went fast watching the landscape go by. It was dry season for my visit so unfortunately the river way very low and the lodge was not on the river as per photographed on booking. I do wish this was explained. Otherwise i had an amazing 5 days. The accommodation was clean, the food was ok. It was different everyday but simple. My guide Larry was exceptional. His knowledge of the jungle, outstanding, and his English was perfect. We made a plan on arriving for what it would like to do in my time. Highlight was the caiman night tour and lily pads.

“Best Experience!”
Gumer was a wonderful guide, a true Amazonian and he made the experience unforgettable. The Lodge includes many activities from jungle excursion to fishing in the amazon river. Perfect for 3/4 days. This is a very warm and friendly village with amazing surroundings, confortable rooms and excellent, well prepared fresh food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Thanks to Gumer we saw and have great photos of monkeys, sloths, caiman, snakes, tarantulas and lots of dolphins. My wife and I couldn't be happier with our choice of stay. Thank you again to everyone at Libertad!

“An incredible experience that we will never forget!”
This was an incredible experience that I would highly recommend to anyone wishing to immerse themselves in the Peruvian Amazon. I was so impressed with how the eco lodge functioned as part of the local Libertad community. Our tour guides Gomir and Norman were exceptional and shared with us so much knowledge about Amazonian plants and animals. The food was incredible and catered to me as a vegetarian. The daily tours were completely catered to us and what we wanted to see and Gomir and Norman always made us feel incredibly safe. We are in awe of the Peruvian Amazon and feel so fortunate that the Libertad community are protecting it. Thank you so much for this experience!

“Best 5 days of our lives!”
Everything was amazing. The price was the cheapest we could find, and with that, you get Transport from/to the airport, 3 meals a day, 3-4 tours a day (lasting 2-4 hours). Our guide (Remigio) was amazing. He knew exactly where to go to find specific animals, fruit, and a camping spot; he also had sharp eyes and could spot tiny animals over 200 meters away. The lodge itself is in a little village, full of happy and welcoming people. The food was made from scratch, and two nights we actually ate the food we caught earlier that day. If you want an adventure filled 3-5 days in the heart of jungle life, then look no further.
