The hotel is well maintained throughout & its mix of old world charm with modern touches. The food in the restaurant was as good as any hotel we have eaten in. Presentation was superb as was the food & the service. When we return to York again it will be to The Churchill where we will stay. From the reception , bar , dining room & room service the staff were excellent.

The room was very pleasant. Very nicely decorated , although we were in the basement so there wasn’t a view . The parking was very tight and unfortunately under a tree. Our car was absolutely covered in sap and tree buds and pigeon poop after two nights . We had an evening meal in the restaurant on the second night . Not very good . The staff were excellent very informative and helpful .

“Wonderful stay, would definitely recommend”

The location is great for visiting York. It’s an easy walk to the city centre. We were able to park our car in the hotel car park. We ate in the hotel garden restaurant both evenings and very much enjoyed sitting outside. We were given a room upgrade, which was a lovely surprise.

The staff are brilliant, nothing too much trouble. And the location is superb. Also the breakfast is top quality and a great relaxed start to the day .

Beautiful hotel. Staff great. Facilities in room great. Not a long walk into the centre. Our room was a little small but facilities good.

“Good location, clean and distinct hotel.”

Good location, only few minutes walk from town centre. Breakfast was only meal we had, very good quality and service. Staff friendly and helpful on arrival and when we required support on how to work the bath! Room was clean and functional, had been recently refurbished, bed of decent quality, bottles of fresh water supplied daily. As the name states there are various Winston Churchill themed items throughout the hotel which we liked as it added character in keeping with the older building.

Loved the building, the location was superb, room was clean and comfortable, we had breakfast there, offering a good selection, and food was hot and fresh. All in all a pleasant enough 2 night stay.
