Overview
Situated in the heart of York, The Bar Convent Guest House is only a 15-minute minute walk from the city centre and just over 300 metres from York Railway Station. The Grade I listed building offers an exhibition on the history of the site, a garden and free WiFi. All of our rooms have en-suite facilities and also enjoy the use of our newly renovated guest kitchen and sitting area. Breakfast is served in the on-site café, where guests may enjoy a well-stocked continental buffet breakfast including fresh fruit, pastries, toast and cereals or upgrade to our award-winning full English breakfast. Breakfast is served until 10:00 on a weekend, and until 9.30 from Monday to Friday. Many historic sites can be visited within York’s city centre, such as York Minister - one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Europe. Clifford’s Tower, York Dungeon and the National Railway Museum are also on offer.

“Excellent Hotel”
Loved the location. The breakfast was excellent. Great choice for continental. The bedroom was spacious and loved the firm pillows. The history of the hotel was interesting and enjoyed the exhibition. Beautiful chapel in the hotel.

“Great place”

“Gem of a place.”
We stayed here sat 20th june. We loved it, great position 2 mins walk to train station. 5 minutes to the centre and 10mins walking to the barbican. It was truely a little gem of a place, we would definatly stay there again.

“Wonderful Experience”
The convent hotel was a wonderful place. The room was spotless and the best pillows ever. Continental breakfast was plentiful and quality produce. The history of the convent was informative and added to the holiday experience.

“Disappointing from previous stays, lovely place but becoming a bit 'tired' and definitely over price”
Nothing in particular except the fact the location is very central for transport Not enough choice for the continental breakfast having been informed that we were not entitled to any of the cooked breakfast choices as the booking had been made via booking.com under free cancellation. I have never encountered this discrimination before when using booking.com

A reality loveley historic building just a short walk form the railway station. Room was comfy and the air con was essential in the recent heat weather. The garden is delightful.

“Lovely place to stay would definitely stay there again”
What a lovely place to stay. Very easy to get to from the train station sadly we didn't get time to see the museum in the hotel but we did peep inside the chapel. There was a wedding about to start.
