The 4-star Principal York, formerly The Royal York Hotel, is set in quiet gardens, with views into the new Garden Room overlooking York Minster. “A magnificent building in a good location but the bedroom didn’t live up to the spaciousness of the rest of the hotel.”
The building itself retains its grandeur as do the public rooms on the ground floor, the staircase etc. It’s obvious why this is a favoured location for weddings and conferences. The staff throughout the hotel were all pleasant and very helpful.

Actually, the room is in the basement, no light, with a wall less than 2 meters from the window and scaffolding on the other side... the bathroom needs a fresh coat of paint.
