“Fabulous stay in a beautiful house”

We’ve just returned from a truly lovely stay, Paul and Fiona are exceptional hosts—so warm, so welcoming, and so thoughtful in every detail. Excellent recommendations for food as York was so busy. The house itself is beautifully restored, full of charm, and cared for with such pride. Our room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully decorated, with a wonderfully comfortable bed and those little handmade touches that make you feel instantly at home. The amenities were excellent too: tea and coffee facilities, a mini fridge, and a great bathroom complete with a walk in night light. Breakfast deserves its own moment of praise. The full English was incredible—fresh, generous, and the perfect start to a long day exploring York. Homemade marmalade was wondeful. The location couldn’t be better. Just slightly out of town, it’s a peaceful spot with only a ten minute walk to the Minster. And for anyone wondering, there is parking at the rear, but ensure you confirm you are arriving by car. All in all, Monkbridge House is a gem. Wonderful service, beautiful rooms, and hosts who go above and beyond. I would highly recommend it to anyone considering a stay in York.

Location, property, breakfast and hosts all marvellous

Simply perfect stay in a comfortable and well-furnished house in the middle of York - perfectly in a quiet neighbourhood but still within walking distance of pubs, eateries and shops. The hosts were simply lovely and welcoming, and staying here felt more like spending a weekend with your grandparents than spending the night at a hotel. Paul was especially helpful with recommending what to do in York, with so much information and tips on the sights in town, and a lovely breakfast cooked in the morning to order. The house was so well-furnished and so very lovely - it felt like the perfect homestay experience in the heart of England. In short - good vibes, amazing ambience, comfortable and lovely house, and the most amazing hosts that made this one night stay worth every penny and worth every moment spent there.

If you can find a better place than this then let me know! It was fantastic. Immaculately maintained, modern and clean. The quality of everything was high class from the decor to the bedding and towels. Breakfast was just amazing and all made to order with homemade jam, butter, fresh baked choice of bread. A lot of thought and care has gone into Monkbridge house by the hosts to ensure the best possible experience. The history of the house itself was so interesting with the rooms named after the previous residents from years gone by. Don't miss a chance to stay in this beautiful, well run and impressive B&B!!

Beautiful building., tasteful refurbisment to suit the period of property. Although situated on a main road it was exceptionally quiet. Close walking distance to the minster . There is a very good system of choosing your main breakfast options on a pre printed leaflet to submit to the chef . Breakfast was very well organised with a wide range of foods to suit all . All very well presented with attention to detail . I noticed lots of information to promote and support the city of york and other attractions within the locality. The owners were able to give recommendations regarding local cuisine options to suit all tastes. Overall a warm welcoming place to stay.
