Overview
Standing next to York Minster, Guy Fawkes Inn, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western was the birthplace of the notorious plotter, Guido Fawkes. The Inn offers en-suite rooms with free WiFi, flat-screen TV’s and AA Rosette Food. Each of the thirteen rooms have been decorated individually, feature antique feature, tea/coffee making facilities and complimentary toiletries. Many of the rooms also enjoy a landmark view. Guy Fawkes Inn, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western retains many of its original features including gas lighting, real log fires and the timber staircase. You can also dine by candlelight in the restaurant, which serves classic pub-food from locally sourced ingredients and the bar stocks a range of real ales. The York Ghost Walk Experience leaves from York Minster each Saturday at 19:00 and both York Theatre Royal and the National Railway Museum are just a 5-minute walk away.

The view we had to the cathedral spoiled by the building coverd in building sheets opposite our room which blocked our view.

“Excellent place for up to couple nights stay”
The location of the hotel is brilliant, and the fact that the rooms(room 11 at least) are set back away from the street meaning you don’t get hardly any street noise

Fantastic location Very quirky hotel with lots of history. Rooms were nicely decorated, in keeping with the character and history of the building. The restaurant offered fantastic food and ambience. The steak and ale pie was one of the best pies I’ve ever had.

we got an upgrade to a very classy room with a very historical feel and big comfy four poster bed. bit of a hiccup over breakfast which didn't seem to have been booked when i thought it had but resolved easily.

It was old world charm and the location couldn’t be better, just a short walk and you’re standing looking at the Minster. We had a room with a huge comfortable bed and a lovely big bath so we were happy. 😊
