The staff were super friendly and helpful and fluent in English, and the Chinese food was very tasty (the preserved beans especially!). The property sits back from the main road and so it's very quiet and peaceful and the outdoor areas between the different buildings are really charming. The rooms are well proportioned and the air-con was a relief to get back to after a day out in the heat and humidity. Didis were never more than three minutes away once booked.

Everything!! This has been one of our favourite places since travelling around the world. The staff are incredible and made our stay so comfortable and enjoyable. The design and layout is so lovely, it doesn’t feel like you’re staying at a hotel but at someone’s home. Having a wide range of food at the restaurant was also very welcome. I even got sick and they arranged the local doctor to come who was wonderful.

“Long weekend in Guilin/Yangshou”

Lovely building full of character with very helpful friendly staff. Unusual for us we ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel and the food was very nice with Western and Chinese options. Rooms were also very nice with separate sitting facilities. All in all a very enjoyable stay in a very pretty location. Getting to Yangshou centre took about 20 mins which was very easy using the DiDi app.

We loved the peaceful location and historic buildings - much more charm than other hotels around Yangshuo and worth travelling out for. The staff spoke good English and could not have been more helpful, and the food was excellent.

“Stunning setting and peaceful stay”

Stunning architecture and gardens/courtyards. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We rented bikes from here which made it super easy to get around the sites near the river. They also helped to arrange for us a private car to return to Guilin with some scenic stops. Food was super tasty. Would definitely stay here again.

“Not comfortable at all in winter”

We were there in winter and room was freezing cold with noisy air-conditioner to try and warm room unsuccessfully. Bed was uncomfortably hard. We stayed out all day and did not look forward to returning to hotel. Location was distant from town. I suppose it meant we witnessed country life

Beautiful, historic building off the beaten track

The hotel is authentic and absolutely beautiful, it’s located in a quiet, quaint town away from the chaos, but this does mean that everything is a little far away - however, it’s all easily reachable by a Didi or scooter ride. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I also had a delicious meal at the restaurant onsite.

There is a wonderful athmosphere in the pertectly restored original rural stonehouses, that now has been turned into a hotel. We fully enjoyed our stay here. The administrator and her stage where very helpful and attending

I have beeb to the secret garden now a few times over the last 10 years or so. Yanshuo and yulong river area have changed heaps over the years, here i still find peace and quiet. Villagers were planting rice. The locals gather at the river in the evening to cool down. On an electric scooter you can easily explore les touristy areas. The staff was really helpful. The western treats at restaurant made my day.

It is a well-restored, charming 150-year-old complex of houses. The staff is friendly, helpful, and professional. They helped us hire a minibus to take us on a sightseeing tour.

A gorgeous hotel, built from a collection of old houses in one of the ancient villages along the Yulong river. It's completely charming, quirky and perfect for exploring Yangshou. The restaurant serves well priced, generous portions of local and western food and the breakfast choices were great too. They have bike hire on the property, perfect for exploring the river bank and stunning scenery, and the staff speak good English and are keen to recommend things to do in the area We loved our stay here and would definitely recommend, especially if you want a more authentic experience.

Our stay at Yangshuo Secret Garden was simply unforgettable. Nestled just outside the center of Yangshuo, this charming B&B is a beautifully restored traditional property, built with stone and wood, which gives it a truly authentic and peaceful atmosphere. Surrounded by picturesque canals and lush greenery, it’s the perfect base for exploring the region. The guesthouse offers bicycle rentals, which we highly recommend—riding through the nearby villages and along the canals was a highlight of our trip. One of the best experiences we had was the cooking class offered by the property. It was fun, informative, and delicious—a must-do! There are also plenty of other activities to choose from, like bamboo rafting and exploring the countryside. The owners were incredibly helpful, even assisting us with booking tickets for the Impression Liu Sanjie light show from Italy, before our arrival. The onsite restaurant is another big plus: they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with both local and Western options available. Everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. If you’re looking for a quiet, authentic, and activity-filled stay in Yangshuo, Yangshuo Secret Garden is the perfect place.

Very beautiful hotell and surroundings! Located a bit outside Yangshuo in a very quiet area. You need to take a taxi to get there, but it's absolutely worth it.
