The hosts at Yudanaka Yasuragi were amazing! They picked us up from the local station on our arrival and dropped us off at the Snow Monkey Park the next day at our request. They also cooked us a brilliant vegetarian special dinner on the night of our arrival. The private onsen was a particular highlight too - lovely space for relaxing and it was nice to have it to ourselves.

“Great hospitable hosts and awesome onsens.”
Had a choice of 2 onsen’s and you could have it as private use for half an hour, which was awesome. Enjoyed a lovely meal for Dinner. So many different little things and was absolutely full by the end.

“The Best Ryokan!”
An exceptional experience from start to finish. This beautiful Ryokan was immaculately clean, the hosts were so warm and caring and really went above and beyond to look after us throughout our entire stay. They were so kind and so helpful. The food was superb with very generous amounts and lots of variety. The private onsen on site is divine!! I don't know how I'll live without it! It was amazing to spend some time unwinding in such a lovely setting. Our time here was a great highlight of our trip, I can't recommend staying here strongly enough. Outstanding value for money and such care and attention to detail given to everything.

Our wonderful hosts warm welcome began when we were picked up from the train station. We were then treated to a special experience that included deliciously prepared home cooked meals for breakfast and dinner as well. The place was clean and comfortable and we all enjoyed our private Onsen experiences. Thank you so much.

This is one of those rare places that stays with you long after you leave. It is a small, owner-run hotel, and that intimacy is exactly what makes it special. The owners are warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in your stay. They even reached out before my arrival to check if there was anything they could help with. That kind of care is uncommon and immediately sets the tone. The property itself is beautiful. Spotlessly clean, thoughtfully decorated, and authentically Japanese in every detail. It does not feel staged or curated for tourists. It feels real, and that is a gift. If you stay here, please do not skip the breakfast and dinner experience. Both exceeded every expectation I had. The food was delicious, the presentation was considered, and eating there felt like a genuine introduction to traditional Japanese cuisine rather than a hotel meal. It was one of the highlights of my trip. I recommend this hotel without hesitation to anyone visiting Nagano. I am giving it the highest possible rating, and I would go higher if I could.

“Amazing experience, great hospitality!”
Great hosts! They picked us up from the station, drove us to the monkey park and to the station on our checkout day. Both dinner and breakfast were very tasty in a very cute dining room. Both large and small private onsens are great. Clear recommendation!

“Fabulous stay in a traditional Ryokan.”
We had an excellent room; very spacious and clean. The futon beds were comfortable. We enjoyed the onsen and our dinner on the night of our arrival was excellent (so much food that we actually couldn't finish eating what had been served to us). The food was tasty and the many courses complemented each other very well. The hosts kindly picked us up at the train station and took us to the Monkey Park while they looked after our luggage until check-in time and they also gave us a lift to the station at the end of our stay. The hosts were very prompt in responding to any of my enquiries.

The property was lovely and well kept. Our room was beautiful and the futon beds and pillows were very comfortable. There was a heater inside the room so it stayed warm despite the chilling outside weather. The owners kindly drove us to and from Yudanaka Station as well as to the Snow Monkey Park. I would highly recommend including breakfast in your stay, it was delicious and included both traditional and western style dishes. We also chose to eat dinner at the hotel and found it was one of the most enjoyable meals of our trip. They kindly catered to our food preferences of no fish, and presented a delicious ten dish meal, including tempura veggies and wagyu, all of which were insanely delicious. The hotel itself is slightly further from town (about 10-15min walk) but we found no issue and quite enjoyed exploring the town. There were also two private onsens to enjoy, which we used daily. They were beautifully warm, my only suggestion would be to bring conditioner, as only soap/shampoo was available, however this was not an issue for us. If you choose to visit Nagano, I would highly recommend choosing to staying at Yasuragi for an authentic experience.

“Truly Japanese Experience in a village at the base of great ski resort”
We absolutely loved this place, it’s truly a Japanese experience we were a little worried about the lack of western beds but after the first night we realised we had nothing to worry about. We booked the room with private toilet and it was huge. We were there for skiing and the owner was so kind they drove us to the station each day. I highly recommend eating there at least once, I am celiac and always a bit scared but we were provide a gluten free meal and it was delicious. The onsen is incredible and there is even a massage chair which was awesome after a days skiing. Lastly it is right near a 7/11 and there is a microwave in the tea room for guests so we were able to cater to our needs with that as also small fridge in room

“Wonderful stay, highly recommend!”
We really appreciated the warm welcome from Owner Kobayashi who collected us from Yudanaka station even though we arrived slightly early, kindly drove us all the way to the snow monkey park and stored our luggage until we returned! Highly recommend the kaiseki dinner, the most flavoursome and delicious meal with multiple courses all carefully prepared and beautifully presented! And the breakfast was just as delicious. Lovely private shower and onsen facility (two private onsens available) and they have everything you need. Room was comfortable and spotlessly clean! Thank you!
