“A Perfect Traditional Stay”

We really loved this place. The traditional rooms gave us an authentic Japanese experience, while still having everything we needed for a comfortable stay. There is a private outdoor onsen that we absolutely enjoyed, as well as a private indoor onsen, which was also very nice to have. It made our stay even more special and relaxing. The hotel’s location is excellent, with easy access to the town’s main street. We also had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, and both were absolutely delicious. Everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. We truly had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it.

It may sound weird but i really liked it that a lot of the items and decor were older but very well maintained. They seem to really respect the items they use and not replace everything unnecessarily every 2-3 years, which gave the hotel a really nice lived-in ambiance. The staff were very attentive and polite. The price includes a multicourse fine dining style dinner in a private room, and the hotel has their own shuttle bus that they will use to drive you to the monkey park and back or the station and back. You can also use private hotel outdoor onsen which is very nice in the winter (you sit in a very hot tub with snow all around you).

Really beautiful building with amazing hosts. It is located right in the river which looks stunning covered in snow. The staff were really attentive and welcoming and all the little touches such as cute little complimentary drinks made us smile. The outdoor onsen was something special too. There’s a lovely cafe round the corner “Yamanochi”

“Excellent - best place I have stayed”

this would be one of the best places i have ever stayed (and i travel a lot). the staff, the food, the location, the private outdoor onsen, the showers, the beds were all excellent. the shuttle pickup from train,to the snow monkey park and from snow monkey park and back to train were all included and prompt. stay for at least two nights to explore the village, snow monkey park and area

“Traditional Japan with the friendliest staff”

The staff at the hotel are undoubtedly the best. They care about your experience and subtle touches like cleaning your shoes and shuttling you around are what made the difference. The private onsen is idyllic (we were fortunate enough to be around on a snowy evening). The dinners were one of a kind, with so much thought and detail put into their presentation. Once in a lifetime experience.

Genuinely authentic traditional Japanese hotel with excellent shuttle service , friendly staff and manager - selection of on site hot baths Onsen , stunning evening dinner in private rooms with special service for vegetarians if you alert them in advance , The location was ideal for walking round the 9 village onsen. We also had a visit to a beautiful local tea house ceremony with Mayumi and to the snow monkeys .

Excellent dinner and breakfast. It was the first time we had such beautiful meals. Hotel is located in the middle of town so it was easy to visit all of the onsens.

Fantastic place with lovely friendly owners. Food is outstanding and catered for our two vegetarians. Great public onsen nearby for which you are given a key. Get your t towel and stamp it as you visit each one! All 9 provides eternal youthful looks and good health. Snow monkeys was the highlight, of course.

The room is spacious and the onsens in the hotel are great. I really recommend trying the outdoor private onsen, that was our favourite. The food was very high quality and the staff was very polite and helpful. Very close to the public onsens of the village. They also offer free shuttles to the station and the monkey park if needed, that is explained in advance. They also had English speaking staff members (not so important to us as we speak Japanese) overall great service and very good hotel.

Very comfortable and relaxing stay. Staff was very hospitable. Rooms were very spacious and clean. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. In house onsen was very nice. Right in the heart of Shibu Onsen area and a short 10 min drive to snow monkey park.

The location was good for us as we wanted to stay in an onsen town. The owners are absolutely wonderful. We were very kindly given a lift to the monkey park and to a lovely spot to take some pictures and were really looked after during our stay. We had one Japanese style dinner and breakfast during our two night stay. It was delicious with real attention to detail and was beautifully presented. All the staff were lovely and warm. You are given a 'master' key to the nine different onsens in town to use at your leisure (during opening hours)

Great location, they collected us from the train station, and dropped us up to snow monkey park and collected us. Dropped us back to the train station when we were leaving
