Amazing location, almost ski in ski out it is so close to the okushiga lift! The lodge is beautifully decorated with so many thoughtful touches. Great features I include underfloor heating, boot warmers, a kitchenette and lounge upstairs, great lighting in the rooms. The 5 course meals were exceptional and the breakfasts perfect to fuel you for a day of skiing.

Dear Masa-san, It has been a week since I left your place and I am still thinking how extra-ordinary it was!! Everything was at its place, organised, clean and so well thought through. My room was very comfortable - love the floor heating! The diners you cooked were amazing, great food and a full 5 courses menu every night - it was absolutely incredible!! I enjoyed how welcoming you were, your advice and friendship. Thank you SO MUCH for this experience, I would do it again in heart-beat. Special mention for your hifi system and collection of vinyls (who would have thought you could find this at Okushiga :-)), the dry room (which warms your ski boots for the morning), and the private onsens - I thoroughly enjoyed those. Honestly, if I could give you 6 starts, I would. Your place is THE place to stay at Shiga-Kogen. I hope I will come back soon. Sayonara, Matt

Excellent meals and super clean. The private onsens were a highlight of each day. The common area is also nice. Masa was a great host. Being able to walk to the lifts was great too.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at Okushiga Lodge Yama no Manimani. It is a beautiful lodge run by husband and wife, Masa and Maki. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and beds and rooms are very comfortable and cosy. They generously catered for my vegan diet with Maki making the most delicious meals. There is also a small guest kitchen and lounge if you’d like to make your own simple meals. The lodge has a lovely quiet ambience with Masa’s beautiful music playing softly in common areas. It is about 100m easy walk to the bottom of the chairlift.

A truly memorable stay! The owner/manager and his family run this as an efficient labour of love. Super comfortable, spotless and with a lot of character. Lovely staff/owners, great food with local beers and wines, amazing onsen rooms. Short walk to the base of the slopes in the best (in our opinion) part of shiga-kogen for skiing. Popular for good reason, don't leave it too long to book!

Great spot to stay with a very nice atmosphere. Short walk to ski hire and lifts. Good facilities and various types of rooms. A very small kitchen and lounge but good enough. Masi was a very helpful host with enough English to get by. Great home cooked food if you go with that option. We liked it so much we have booked again.
