The lounge is absolutely the highlight, here the Grand Phenix shares three things with you: great local draft beer, a gentle Okushiga snowing view, and a warm firepit. This lounge is so special that you can wait for your dinner table (because of the tight reservation in Christmas season) there while drinking your drinks by a bonfire, this even makes waiting a wonderful experience...

I never experienced such VIP service otherwise in the world. Whole reception teams demonstrated what extraordinary service should be. I arrived late by bus and was welcomed by one receptionist in bus stop. so I did not need to carry my luggage in the snowing road. They even opened the ski rental shop for me after working hour. The next morning, I missed public shuttle bus and they offered to use hotel shuttle bus to drive me over to ski lift in Yakebitaiyama without reservation in advance. I felt that I was living with a lot of friends instead of living in hotel. I was too tired to try the bar at night, and I would like to try it next time. Swimming pool was good with quite warm water. Hot bathing place with best view. Sun rising over snow mountain top. Breakfast was very good with many variations. The dinner I ordered was pork hotpot, and personally I think the starter tasted better and pork meat is okay. I will try something else next time. All in all, the service and room condition are all top.

“Amazing”

Incredible service and incredible overall experience. It's like staying in a fancy cabin in the snow. The lounge area with the giant fireplace is awesome, very nice food, very spacious rooms and first class facilities such as the onsens and indoor swimming pool. The decor could be interpreted as dated (as other reviews have stated) but we felt this simply adds to the warmth and cosiness of the establishment. The service here is seriously next level and it is fantastic value for money.

We were well-taken care of by the staff. Mr Takahashi and his colleague were attentive and prompt to our requests and helped us with everything from fitting our ski equipments, equipment replacement and luggage delivery service (TaQbin). We left something behind in the room by accident but were able to have the items sent back to Singapore after the hotel swiftly made arrangement for the delivery after we contacted them :) We acquainted with lovely Ikeda-san who was attending to us at the restaurant and had wonderful conversations sharing culture and experience over dinners and breakfasts. Food was great and the view from the restaurant was amazing and beautiful.

Staff arranged for us to be driven to where we could ski each day. The snow was late this year. Hotel bus was very comfortable.
