A beautiful traditional guest house. The owner is so kind and helpful and will drive you anywhere you need. We were at Shiga Kogen for snowboarding everyday and he was always there both to take us to the bus stop in the morning and meet us off the bus in the evening. Definitely stay there if in the area, you won't regret it.

“A great place to stay”
The perfect place for my first night in Japan. The host messaged me after booking to let me know which train to get so I was well prepared. I’d been travelling around 26 hours by the time I reached Yudanaka station and was exhausted but I was picked up and taken to 7-ELEVEN to grab some food (my choice as I was tired). The guest house was peaceful, cosy and felt very traditional. I was given slippers at the door. The host was so kind and friendly. I had a great sleep in a warm and comfy bed. The Japanese breakfast was delicious, after breakfast the host checked the webcam at the monkey park to look for monkeys and then gave me a lift to the park. Once I’d finished at the park, the host came back to collect me and take me to the train station. As a solo female traveller I felt safe and looked after and like I was experiencing Japanese culture. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

“Great hostel and amazing owner”
Very friendly owner, excellent service. He drove me wherever I wanted to go and was very welcoming and helpful with information about the monkeys. 100% recommend.

“Great place to stay while we snowboarded in Shiga Kogen”
- The breakfasts, especially the Japanese style, was so good. There is a set time for breakfast so ensure that you are on time for it. - the common area was spacious while cosy and felt very alpine - drop off/pick up was offered so it didn’t really matter that you weren’t a walking distance from the main town - kitchen was well-equipped

Home away from home , Mr Yoshiro the owner & manager is the kindest person you could meet. He collected at the train station . Furthermore he brought me to the monkey park and collected me. As I was the only one staying the night, he suggested an Onsen with dinner 10 min walk away. We chatted via google translate. The rest what I have to tell is unbelievable ; I got a call from my daughter late night , I explained where I was ….lo and behold she had been in the same guesthouse 24/2/2024 , what a coincidence. The next morning I explained to Mr Yoshiro and he got his ledger out and there was my daughters name. She remembered the fabulous welcome and amazing breakfast. What a small world.
