Very very spacious, definitely larger than usual Japan hotel room size. Wide spread of breakfast, taken 3 rounds to try all the food. Fill up the stomach for the journey.

Convenient location in centre of town with multiple food options close by. Fantastic breakfast buffet. Comfortable and spacious room. Friendly and helpful staff. Parking next door - only ¥2000 total for two or more nights. Great hair salon in the basement - worth a visit!

The beds were comfy and the variety of toiletries provided was great. It was also nice to have a pod coffee machine with pods provided. The hotel itself looked professional. Cleaning was performed brilliantly during our visit. The location is great to see the castle. Looks beautiful in the snow.

I loved this hotel! Admittedly, it is a bit of a walk from the train station, about 12-15 minutes, but in a nice location with many shops and cafes in a traditional shopping area. Yamagata is a small city, and we felt very comfortable there, but used the hotel mostly as a hub for day trips into the surrounding countryside, so there was a fair bit of walking back and forth to the station involved. This hotel may have been grand in the 1970s or 1980s, and it is the perfect place if you love that kind of style, with the almost ballroom-like reception and swirly carpets everywhere. Staff were super friendly and spoke good English. We had booked the cheapest double room and were pleasantly surprised by its generous size. Beds, furniture, all looked like it had been in situ for a while, and to be honest, I like the retro style, and it was not worn or scuffed. Everything was perfectly clean. We could open the windows a little to let fresh air in. It was quiet at night.
