“It like visiting your grandparents cottage”

Definitely not a place for everyone but if you’re a hiker looking for a cool “local” place to stay, dry up, cook some wagyu and wash your clothes, this is your place. It was probably some old person’s house so you can totally experience how people in Japan live.

“Awful, worst accommodation in Japan”

The location was convenient but everything else was absolutely awful.

I loved it. It was compact, but it was a house with all the facilities. The bathroom was convenient, and I could cook comfortably in the kitchen. The tatami I encountered for the first time was clean and comfortable. With the bus stop right in front, it's good for activities, and there are many shopping centers and restaurants on the beach within walking distance. I asked for a lunch box before hiking, and it was delicious. And when I got out of the accommodation, the Wi-Fi connection to Kamogawa restaurant was very good. There is a Wi-Fi address and password that can be connected to the accommodation. And since the accommodation fee is upfront It will be convenient if you prepare it in advance. It was a great place, and I want to come back. I'm also planning to use this place then. The weather in Yakushima in early March is much cooler than I thought It was pretty cool. Thanks to you, I couldn't see any bugs in the dorm.

“Authentic Japanese house.”

We enjoyed our stay in Tirol. The location is great for jomon sugi hike and the family that owns the house is very kind.

“Stay at a traditional Japanese little apartment in East Yakushima”

It was nice to have a small apartment all to ourselves and sleep on real futon. For us it was the perfect stop when travelling through Yakushima. There is a restaurant just next to the guesthouse and it served a set of flying fish. We had it with beer and the famous clams that look like turtle feet. It was very good!

“Cosy little place in Anbo”

Lovely little place that we had for ourselves. It seems only to be one room.

The property felt like home away from home. It was very spacious, cozy, and comfortable, and had all amenities you could possibly need. It was also extremely inexpensive considering the location and what is included. If you are planning on hiking the Arakawa Trail to see the Jomon Sugi, the location (Anbo) is about as close as you can get to the bus stop that takes you to the trail entrance (only a 6 minute local bus ride). The owners were also extremely kind to us all throughout, and the local restaurant (Kamogawa) that they run, which is right next to the property, was very tasty and affordable. (There are plenty of other good restaurants nearby too.) They even have an early-morning bento service for hikers (we got ours at 4:30). Overall a tremendously pleasant experience.
