Host is very accommodating, it is very close to bus stop, restaurants and tourist information where u can buy bus pass. Also close to some trekking routes so u don't have to change busses

“Great location and helpful host”

The host was very friendly and intent on making sure I was enjoying my stay at the accommodation and on Yakushima in general. She doesn't speak English but you will do just fine with a translation app. It's situated at the end of a narrow street so it will be quiet, and at the same time the village has all the amenities you need. It's also close to the trailhead for Jomon-Sugi and Yakusugi Land, and felt like a good place to stay if you want to do daytrips to just about anywhere.

Excellent host very kind lady who helped me!

The rooms are located on the 2nd floor of a building. There is a common area with tea/coffee and a fully equipped kitchen. The location is great and there is a parking for car. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable with a shared bathroom and a shower

Decent basic accommodation. The host is incredibly helpful and responsive despite the language barrier.

The owner was so sweet and kind, really made me feel at home and the location was so close to everything.

“Good choice to stay on Yakushima”

I enjoyed my stay at Minshuku Satomachi. The guesthouse location is good: you can take the local bus to the airport or the Nature Museum on the way to Arakawa trail; the bus stop is about 5-7 minutes on foot from the guesthouse. The host is polite and friendly, and all the amenities have been provided. Price/Quality ratio met my expectations. Nice choice for those who want to save some money and have a pleasant stay on Yakushima.

Lovely host and the room I slept in was very clean, and the tatami and futons were comfortable. Beautiful location, there isn't much around but that was the reason I chose it. I would absolutely recommend it!

I really enjoyed staying at Satomachi. It's geared up for hikers so don't expect luxury, but it has everything you need including a fully equipped kitchen. As noted in other reviews, the landlady is incredibly nice and attentive. It's right by the river and 5 min walk from the nearest bus stop. The place also seems to be a bit of a local institution. Everyone in town knew it.

We had a great stay. Especially if you're planning to do the Jomon Sugi hike this is a great choice as the bus stop is around the corner. We can recommend the breakfast and lunch box as well. The host was very kind and really helpfull!

“Expensive and old but close to restaurants”

The minshuku is the floor above the tenant's home. It can be accessed from outside with external stairs. The kitchen being shared by all, you get to meet people. Some restaurants are close by foot.

“Simple local living”

The owner was very nice and kind to me and was very communicative. She's an old lady living downstairs but she would take time to walk upstairs to chat with me to make sure everything's ok and asked me about my hiking plan, though she didn't speak English and my Japanese is very broken, we communicated well with a translator app 😉 Staying in this minshuku in this village was simple yet lovely. The bath was a treat after hiking. Its close to the river and it's nice to stroll along even after a long day hike. I also liked that there's a kitchen. She also got everyone some lovely bread for breakfast, with coffee, tea and local shochu available on the kitchen bench. The kitchen and eating area were great for socializing with other guests. I would love to stay here again. ありがとうございます✨

Light breakfast was fine. The location was very convenient to restaurants and bus stop. Staff members were very pleasant and helpful, allowing us to check in early. Nice view of the river from front of hostel. Linen and towels were clean.

Despite the language barrier, the host was very sweet and caring. We really felt welcomed and taken care of. Free tea and croissants in the morning were very nice!

“Excellent base for exploring Yakushima”

There are three private rooms with a common area, a well-equipped kitchen that reminds me of hostel kitchens, and a big bottle of local sake to share with your new friends in the other rooms. Location is at the end of a street near the river: very quiet but close to Anbo’s tiny downtown, the port, and bus stops. The hostess doesn’t speak English but all the main information about staying there is written up in English.
