Beautifully designed cottage with a garden, private onsen, and amazing views. Hosts put attention in every detail to make a stay a comfortable experience, all basic utilities are available. A night out in izakaya with one of them was a very special experience.

We had a wonderful stay at Cottage Views. The architect-designed house is very elegant and the garden is sublime. The owners are very kind and always attentive. We were sad to leave and hope to return.

On arrival our hosts greeted us with the freshest, tastiest orange juice and explained the running of the cottage, showed us maps and advised us on the basics of the Island. They were so kind and attentive. The cottage is set up perfect. The kitchen is set up to cook our meals after a full day of site seeing. You must try the rock bath, it is such a nice experience and there is also a sauna which the hosts set up and gave us everything you could possibly need for the sauna. We had some delicious home made OJ ice cream which was a lovely surprise. It is best to have a hire car as the cottage is approx 45 mins away from the ferry, plus you will be able to see a lot more the Island has to offer. If you want a homely unique experience you can’t go wrong with The Cottage views.

We LOVED everything! The hosts were exceptionally lovely, helpful and informative. We wished we stayed longer and are keeping this place in the back of our mind for when we wish to come back to Japan. The house was so cozy and we enjoyed being there every single moment. If you're looking for a place worthy to stay at for a honeymoon, this is it! (& Don't forget to rent a car! It completes the trip.) Thank you!

“A perfect place quiet clean safe and so comfortable you don’t want to leave”

The house is so comfortable quiet and relaxing and having the worst tropical storm in years it felt safe and secure It’s on the best part of the island close to a few shops and 2 bakeries and 3 brilliant onsens. However what makes it so great are the couple who own it who are so friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Despite the terrible weather we loved staying on Yakushima but so lucky to have found this house

The amazing island Yakushima along with its friendly people. We had an amazing experience for our last stop of our honeymoon trip to Japan. We rented a car for the days we were staying and this is really recommended since you're able to explore and see much more of the island. Shouji-san and Mami-san were super kind and we facilitated us in every way possible. Thank you so much for an unforgettable trip!

Everything was more than perfect!

“Beautiful views, relaxing bath, amazing island.”

The location was amazing and the views made me want to go back. We stayed here while we did a lot of hiking in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. It felt like a home away from home on a beautiful island. When we got there we were given some of the best orange juice I've ever had and a rundown of everything that we had available in the cottage. There were fruit trees outside and they kept our little bowl of fruit full of oranges we happily ate on our hikes. We were there over christmas and they left homemade orange ice cream in our freezer while we were out. It was so sweet of them and gave us something to celebrate with after dinner. The kitchen was set up so we could easily make our meals with cute setups for us to eat with. When we would get back after our hikes it was nice to have the bath to relax in after making dinner. The futons were quite comfortable and the view of the stars we a lovely treat to wake up to in the night. I hope we can get back here whenever we return to Japan!

Whats not to like about this beautiful cottage. It must have been one of our best stays in Japan. It’s a very comfortable and spacious place with a beautiful garden, amazing onsen-like bath and everything you need to relax and enjoy the beauty of the island. The hosts are the most friendly and helpful people, we didn’t had an international driver license (highly recommended), but they helped us with getting everywhere on the island or they helped getting a taxi. We also went a couple of times to a very fun Izakaya with karaoke. Highly recommended

“A relaxing and comfortable stay that exceeded all expectations.”

I have never had a stay as relaxing and as lovely as this one. So much care has gone into every aspect of the experience. The hosts, Shoji and Mami, are kind and attentive. They were helpful guides for exploring Yakushima and even offered to drive us places when our rental car reservation fell through (our fault). The property is stunning and comfortable, with a large and beautifully curated garden to enjoy during the day and unbelievable stars at night (especially during a new moon). The bath, bedroom and kitchen were all spacious and well-equipped. The sauna was a lovely add-on for our last day. We ended our honeymoon here at Cottage Views, and although we had stayed in nice places throughout Japan, it was without a doubt the highlight of the trip. We are already scheming how we can get back!

This was a fantastic stay. Absolutely brilliant place.

As per the name the cottage has a great view, it is very clean and everything you need for your stay is provided. We really liked the location, it is in a very quiet area, but close enough to restaurants, bakeries and the supermarket although you will absolutely need to rent a car to get around from here. The owners were incredibly kind and helpful people and made the stay very special. They helped us a lot throughout our stay, whenever we had a question or needed help they responded immediately. One evening they even surprised us with homemade dessert! One thing to keep in mind is that if you are scared of geckos staying in the cottage might be a little problematic, but everyone else should really enjoy their time so close to the incredible nature.

The whole place is amazing. A fantastic home for those who search for calm and comfort in a lovely natural environment. To relax you can use the japanese bathtub and look over the garden to the sea. Furthermore the hosts who live next door a extremely nice. Go there and find out and enjoy it yourself.

“Off the beaten track but the most wonderful place to stay”

Exceeded our expectations in all areas! Beautiful views, tranquillity and wonderful hosts. The house is well-equipped with everything you need, and it is spotless. They were perfect hosts and went beyond their way to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Their command of English is very good, too. Lovely place with a short walk to the local cafes, but a car is essential for restaurants/food shopping and sightseeing. Off the beaten track but so much nicer than staying in a hotel to experience the true joy of Yakushima. Nice, there is no TV! Loved the local coffee shops and Izakaya 'Hachiman'. Would love to return!
