“The best place for a quiet escape.”

The Morinokokage Cottage ist beautifully located. Surrounded by nature and mountain peaks you can really relax. The host is very warm and welcoming. He speaks English very well so you don't need to worry. Plus, you have everything you need (laundry, snack vending machine etc.) on site. The room was spacious and lovely decorated. There ist a parking space right next to it (definitely reccommand a rental car on Yakushima). We ordered homemade breakfast which was exceptional!

“Magic, from start to finish.”

It was like a fairytale. It was just so beautiful, peaceful, and quiet. Such a lovely place to come back to after a days of exploring. Had the laundry, shoe warmers, a massage pillow which was incredible on my legs after hiking all day. It was so warm and cozy, especially with cold winter nights outside.

Although this property is situated in a secluded place, a 5-minute drive takes you to a supermarket, whose selection is not so large compared with ones in Kanto area.

This is the perfect balance of a completely private cabin in a great location, while still having the very friendly owner and staff available for many conveniences like booking the car rental, ordering meals, and providing suggestions. Laundry, vending machines and a mini kitchen make this accommodation especially convenient.

“Awesome stay in unique accommodation”

Absolutely loved everything about this place. Communication with the host prior to the booking was prompt and clear. Host even arranged car hire (essential). Location was superb too - 10 mins drive from the airport and 5mins from Anbo town/port and well signposted from the road. Definately the best location to access the walking areas and the main attactions. Host and his wife were really friendly on arrival and I loved the öne of a kind" accommodation - a true passion project. Accommodation was really clean and wam. There's an on site laundry and vending machine and take away lunches can also be ordered and delivered very early, very handy if you are starting early as many places do not open until late.

“A charming getaway!”

The little village of cottages was enchanting! The interior of our cottage was charmingly decorated in a French provincial theme. The hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful. The laundry facility was easy to use and the dryer was powerful. The food hut was really clean and well organized; we were pleased with the choices of quick meals and drinks available. Overall, an unforgettable experience!

Our stay at this beautiful home on Yakushima was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we felt truly welcomed and cared for. The host, Mr. Ryosaku, went above and beyond to make our visit special—everything was thoughtfully prepared and full of heart. The house was spotless, cozy, and filled with little touches that made it feel like home. Communication was easy and professional throughout, and the overall atmosphere was incredibly warm and sincere. Yakushima is now forever in our hearts, and we hope to return one day. The cottage is in a great location very close to the airport, super cute with lots of space and Mr Nakashima and his team are really lovely and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, helping us to rent a car, order a bento for our hikes and also even arranging to send some souvenirs we accidentally left in the rental car as well. Wonderful stay, highly recommend to anyone visiting Yakushima!

Superb place with unique ambiance, like in a fairy tale! Even vending machines and microwave are located in a nice cottage like building. Loved this place!

“Tranquil, beautiful, comfortable”

The property was gorgeous and it was wonderful having my own little cottage. The property was fully booked but there was no noise from neighbours. Such a tranquil and relaxing stay. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The owner speaks great English and is happy to share any advice needed. He even helped me book a car for when I arrived on the island. I would highly recommend a car to make it easier to move around and make the most of the trip.

“The perfect place for a stay on Yakushima”

It was just perfect. We had a cottage with cooking capabilities and it was great. Everything available what you need. Nakashima san and all staff is very friendly, help if you need help, provide you with information and also have great tips for restaurants. Nakashima san also helped organizing a rental car if you need one. At Morinokokage you can buy drinks and snacks, and there is a free of charge laundry. Thank you Nakashima san. We enjoyed our stay very much and we would stay again at your place if we'd come back to Yakushima.

“Luxurious stay in a cute cottage”

This is probably one of the most comfortable places we stayed in Japan besides the ryokan in Ureshino and that's only because of the decor and the amenities at the ryokan. The beds were insanely comfortable. I think I can safely say that the beds were the most comfortable bed I've slept in besides my own. The hand towels were fluffy and soft and the bath towels were super soft and absorbent. They really outdid themselves when picking the linens for the hotel. The amenities in the shower were almost on par with the ryokan's (at least for my sensitive hair). There's a kitchenette in the cottage and parking is right in front of your cottage. I wish that we stayed another day so that we could use the kitchen facilities. There's also free laundry on site that we didn't need to use since we were heading home pretty soon after the stay.

The ammenities were great. we especially loved the shoe warmer and free laundry.

“Perfect Island stay”

Wonderful cottage! Great we'll equipped kitchen. Good bathroom and WiFi. The beds were some of the most comfortable we had in Japan. Free washing machine and dryer. Ideally located on the island, quiet and close to various spots by car.

“Amazing”

I liked that it was a small house and you got your own porch! The inside was very clean and homely. It was great that it was prepared for people who wanted to go and do outdoor activities (there was a shoe dryer, laundry room outside, hangers). Mr Nakashima coordinated our car rental for us and was very responsive. Our ferry got cancelled and we had to stay in Kagoshima for one night. Mr Nakashima helped get us a refund and sorted out the car rental booking for us based on our new arrival.
