It’s a lovely old hotel in the centre of Xanten, with an interesting history of guests over the years. The staff are very friendly. Our room was nicely decorated and very clean. The breakfast was superb; such a good selection including a beautiful natural honeycomb. There are paid parking options at the rear of the hotel.

This is a lovely historic hotel perfectly located in the heart of this charming little town. The hotel is very old and has been carefully modernised with attractive decor while still retaining period features. The restaurant and a separate private dining room looked very elegant. The beer keller in the basement also looked cosy and fun. Our room was in the attic with a sloping wall on two sides, but it was very spacious with everything we needed and a very nice shower room. We had an excellent (though not cheap) breakfast in the charming breakfast room.

7 minutes of walking distance to Xanten train station, the room is spacious and clean enough, the staffs are very much hospitality, and they’re offering high quality of bottled-sparkling/still water for free. I feel at home for one-night staying, and will definitely recommend you to stay with them!

The decor was charming and rooms very spacious and comfortable. The bathtub was amazing and breakfast very tasty.

“Very disappointing”

The main function of a hotel is a place to sleep. We did not sleep. Our room was situated over the terrace, where drunken people kept shouting till midnight. After that, the noise from the disco in the cellar became progressive louder, with booming basses far into the night. The staff was incompetent. First we were given a room that had been reserved for another party. We had to move and were given a room over the kitchen with very noisy ventilation so we had to move again, and ended up in the noisy room above the terrace (see above). In the restaurant they gave us the bill for the table next to us, and were unable to retrieve data on what we had ordered. A very surly waiter then interrogated us as to what we had ordered, making it seem as though it were our fault that they didn't have their act together.
