Beautiful scenery and a lovely garden

“The stopover we’d like most to return to - for its beautiful scenery, it’s comfort, and the welcome.”

This farm was the highlight of our road trip; the scenery is superb. The welcome is outstanding and we left feeling we’d made a friend Our hostess cooked us a delicious dinner followed by a wonderful breakfast the next morning - though the room had everything you would need if you wanted to self cater. It was all well put together, attractive and comfortable.

Loved the outlook and cozy cottage vibe. Phyllis was extremely welcoming and made sure we were comfortable and settled in. Would definitely stay again.

We Planned to leave the farm at Maclear at 07h30, but could only leave at 14h00 due to the heavy rains that caused floods in the vlei. Our host Phyll and her daughter Lizzie was just amazing. They drove numerous times to check the water levels. They had the low bridge repaired( not on their property), escorted us and then brought us back ; again escorted us through the water until we could safely drive through( our rental car is a Suzuki Swift). We were fed and hydrated and given regular updates. If you're ever in the area, please support Phyll. Her husband died at the age of 33 after a 3 year battle with cancer, leaving Phyll with 2 little daughters and a farm to run. She is still managing the cattle farm on her own, with the help of some farm workers. What an incredible amazing woman.

Ohhh the staff was so welcoming, environment so nice and peaceful and the perfect view 😍 I will definitely come for more days.

Phyll communicated all details and was a great host. The location is remote, peaceful and extraordinary, the cottage was serviced daily and thoroughly by a lovely person. Was great to have an opportunity to disconnect.

Beautiful cottage nestled in the mountains with awesome views .Phyl is a caring host and set the table for our arrival .The cottage was well stocked with wood for the cozy fireplace .Our beds had electric blankets .The kithcen was well stocked with electric stove and microwave and gas cooker to accomadate for the electricla outages

“A very memorable vacation in a beautiful, natural environment.”

The correspondence from our host was outstanding and she went the extra mile to give directions, recommend a butcher in Maclear and organise a tour. We arrived in pouring rain, but she welcomed us at the car and took us to the cottage, where she opened up and explained how everything worked. Throughout the stay she checked in with us to ensure that we were comfortable. The cottage is very well equipped and the gas geyser and gas stove, as well as the dishwasher and washing machine were welcome bonusses. The beauty of the area and the farm in particular is breathtaking. Although it is a working cattle farm, flies (and other insects) were not a problem at all, as ample provision is made in the cottage to deter them. The serenity, peace and quiet that surrounded us, the pitch darkness at night, the very bright starts and the sound of the nearby stream and frogs, the mist rolling in and covering the mountains .... true escape from the city!

“Idyllic secluded Cottage”

We stayed in a gorgeous secluded cottage nestled amongst the mountains .This is a 3 bedroom cottage with twin beds in two rooms and a double bed in one . The cottage was well equiped and warm and comfortable .There was an indoor fireplace with firewood provided .The ouside braai was easy to use .There was good provision for electrical outages with battery charged light bulbs and kersone lamps .The bedding was warm and the beds comfortable with snug blankets and electric blanket.The cottage is comfortably furnished with orignal scenery paintings on the walls We loved the complimentry biscuits , coffee,tea sugar and milk.The table was set for us on arrival The views were awesome with the mountains rising straight up from the patio with good walks from the cottage .The owner was hepfull and friendly

This was our third visit, which says more than enough.... It was like coming home, being welcomed like family and the tranquility, peace and beauty of the valley is literally out of this world. We will be back. Thanks Phyll

Beautiful location and views. Lovely cottage. Feeling of being away from any crowds. Enthusiasm of owner for the conservation work they doing on the farm.

Phyll was the most amazing host..we had a lovely cottage to ourselves with all the mod cons..dishwasher, washing machine, gas and electric stove and microwave. We had home made biscuits waiting for us and the most beautiful views. It was very peaceful and relaxing and would highly recommend.

Everything at the property - gas gyser, stove & backup lights, had a great experience during loadshedding.
