Batenborg is situated in a classic Groningen farm house, beautifully located right next to a canal, and on a stone’s throw from the charming village of Winsum. Like most classic farms in the area, the building is like an island of trees and greens in the otherwise mostly wide open landscape of the North of the Netherlands’ Wadden region. The hosts were very welcoming, the B&B itself is beautifully renovated while keeping all kinds of original details, and the rooms are spacious. The bathroom is comfortable and cleverly built in the bedroom. Beautiful wooden floors, high ceilings and gorgeous views all around. It’s very quiet, apart from a few cars driving by and fighting crows in the morning. No tv in the room (but who needs that anymore?), wifi works perfectly. Breakfast was excellent, and includes some home made and regional products. The B&B only has two rooms in the main house, and they both have their own separate breakfast room/salon, which feels luxurious. The table was marvellously set with flowers from the garden. The value for money is absolutely on point. Highly recommended.

Everything is perfect! and the attention to detail and comfort is something I did not see before. the property is a paradise for holiday, hikes, biking, or just dreaming in the sun. we were there for work in Groningen, and even that worked perfectly. strongly recommended

“Relaxing”
Lovely ambiance in a Rijksmonument. Beautiful room with nice wooden floors and high ceiling. Good beds (they are bed experts.) We had a cozy dinner in a private hall with firepit. Good breakfast with products from the surrounding farms. The owners are hospitable, with interesting stories about Groningen and the villages. Good corona-measures.
