“Whitangia beachfront hotel”
Booked while travelling. Spent two days here and really enjoyed it. Beachfront views over the main road made this special. Really near town on the promenade, walking distance to the museum (which we are sorry we missed - the James Cook / Mercury Bay expedition sounded very interesting) and the quay where the ferry and the cruises depart. Could easily walk into town. We found Whitangia more interesting than Coromandel Town. It had many restaurants within a short distance of the hotel. We tried three - all were good. Some nice tourist souvenir shops in town for last minute presents. Spacious room and has kitchen, couches and outside area. Lovely staff, very welcoming and informative. The hotel has connections to local tourism (tours and restaurants) and had some good recommendations and discounts (we booked the Cavecruzer tour because of their recommendation and really enjoyed it).

The Manager was incredibly welcoming, and the room was as she explained, a lovely old fashioned motel but very clean and comfortable. The 2 bedroom apartment was very spacious, had an extra single bed in the lounge room which suited us perfectly. We looked directly out to the beach from our living area, couldn't ask for a better view. We only spent 1 night here on our way to Cathedral Cove but could have easily spent several days here.
