Nice stay!

Mike and Linda are terrific hosts who work really hard to make sure your stay is unforgettable. Remember you are in remote Tanna. The bungalows are quite comfortable and there is a mosquito net above all beds. No power, wifi or running water. Bring a power bank and mosquito repellent as the mozzies are relentless. The food is not bad, they work with what they have available especially since the ship was delayed but I would bring extra snacks. The volcano is obviously a must. It does get a little cold at night and can be windy and rainy so make sure to pack a jumper and rain jacket in case. The views from all the bungalows and the tree house are amazing of Mount Yasur. The road is rough on the way up so be warned.

GREAT PLACE !!!

Mike is great and so is his family! I booked the tree house but I stayed in the bungalow, which was more confortable. The view to the Yasur volcano is great and you can hear the eruptions. The jungle around is really nice, you really feel different at the place. Everything was very clean and safe. It was surely the best choice I could have made. The bed was very confortable and bathroom was okay. Remember, you are in the middle of the jungle on a hill in front of a volcano, so don't expect a resort or any kind of luxury place. It is unique, simple, and GREAT!

You won't find a better location! Mike and his family are super friendly and helpful. There's no electricity! In my case that's a big win as it made my Tanna experience even more authentic, but for some people it can be a bad point

Gorgeous, peaceful and tranquil oasis near Yasur

Mike and Lina are wonderful and safe hosts. You can relax at the guesthouse which is removed from the villages and main roads. It is very quiet and private with gorgeous views to the volcano. It is a wonderful experience to be immersed in nature. The food is fresh, grown locally and cooked well.

An unforgettable experience right next to Mt Yasur volcano but some fixings could be nice.

The location is amazing. You can see and hear the volcano days and nights. Mike and his family were lovely and the food was great (around 1000/1500VT per meal). Mike comes to pick you up at the airport for a 2 hours drive with amazing views! (Be aware it is bumpy on the island). The river is really close (10min walk) and was nice for a refreshing swim.

Fantastic bungalow with fabulous volcano view

The owners of this accommodation,Mike and Lyina are so friendly and hospitality . Lyina’s local dishes never let you down. It’s so tasty! Not salty & not oily & pay attention to health , less meat but more vegetables & fruit! Love to have dinner with Lyina The day I arrived , there was no guest only me. Mike recommended the best room for the best view of volcano! Every night I slept late because of photo time ! The room with plush toilet . The others room had no toilet . Public toilet outside. Lyina’s dog, Tutu and her 4 puppies, were so cute . Tutu sometimes came to visit me at room !😆 Had to ask how much for one tour. Each tour costs a lot. Cash only. The area is quite remote, only their family there. Mike will drive you to do shopping .empty bottle can be remained because they had tap water. 1500 VUT each meal, only breakfast free. 5000 one way airport transfer 7000-9000 VUT each tour (village tour) Volcano entrance fee , 9750VUT ; transfer 4000VUT

The accommodation brings an authentic atmosphere of local life. In nature, with a view of the volcano, off the grid (and without electricity), with animals around. It is good to know that this is a place that is "cut off" from the rest of the world. For some, this may be restrictive, but for others exactly what they are looking for. If you are a traveler who appreciates the connection with the local community and the surrounding nature and is not looking for luxury, this is a place where you will feel very comfortable. Host: Mike is helpful, kind and communicative. During our stay, it was visible that he himself arranged transportation for all guests throughout the day. When there was a problem, he tried to solve it. Surroundings: In addition to the usual tourist activities, you can safely walk around the area. - Go to the river to refresh yourself (5-10 minutes walk), - walk through the forest (there are many small villages nearby) - or walk under the volcano, where there is a beautiful plain and view (about 60 minutes walk). Food: Breakfast is included in the price (coffee, tea, bread and a few spreads). Lunch and dinner are at an additional cost of 1000 vuv (vegetarian/vegan food) or 1500 vuv (meat food) per meal. Mike's wife cooks and the meals are very tasty, made from local ingredients. If you want to bring your own food, you need to bring your own supplies - preferably from Port Vila (there are only modest shops and outdoor markets on the way from the airport and nothing around the accommodation). Transport: Mike provides transport from the airport and back. The same goes for the volcano or if you are interested in other activities. Everything is for a fee (you can ask him for a quote in advance to get an idea). Prices: It is necessary to take into account that the resulting amount of money will not only be for accommodation. You need to include transport, food, possible entrance to the volcano or other activities in the costs.

Great view, nice host, accommodation was awful.

Three things were really nice: 1. The location. Excellent view. Very remote, but that doesn't have to matter. 2. The host is truly kind. 3. The dinner I had was very delicious.

The location and the view at the Castle Tree House Bungalow was amazing. You wake up and see the vulcano and even hear the sounds. The family of owner Mike is really kind and hospitable. There is a lot to do from the accommodation and Mike is happy to help you with planning or transportation. The stay was amazing!

A unique experience! I would recommend it for a short stay

The property has a wonderful location right at the foothills of Mt Yasur. I could see the volcano from my balcony and I could hear its rumblings. The view was stunning. It’s a first hand experience of an active volcano. It was quite unique! Above all, the hosts Mike and Lina, were wonderful. There were very kind, easy going and very hospitable. The food was healthy, very delicious and the servings were very generous!

Mike and his family are lovely, and super helpful in organising everything and being incredibly hospitable hosts. You won’t find cheaper price on the island, his wife cooks great food and the view of the volcano is spectacular with views of the whole area. There is also very good Mobile data from the property. Food costs 1500 vatu pp for lunch and 2000 vatu pp for dinner. And make sure you bring enough cash for the transfer and volcano entry fee. Mike really cares about your stay and experience.

Property is basic, good for relaxation, it is separate but close to local village. Property owner is a traditional head of that village. So full cultural experience guaranteed!

Lots of problems with the owner. Good view and great cooking.

Beautiful view of the volcano. Apartments are elevated on a hill above the jungle overlooking the forest with good volcano view. The woman providing the meals was very friendly and cooked very well.

Mike and Lina are so lovely people. If U stay with Them U get probably the best tanna experience U could Imagine! I felt Like its The Most peaceful place in the entire world. The tree House we stayed in was bloody awesome - U even have a balcony with mount yasur View. The tree House even has its own toilett which i think is pretty cool (never expected that). Everything ist rustic but i think thats the unique Charme about this place. Bed was super comfy with mosquito net. There was no electricity Just to be aware - we Had Powerbanks with us, so No Big issue at all. Furthermore, Mike offered us to Charge gadgets If we would needed. If someone seeking a luxury Resort, U better Go to Bali and Not Vanuatu. We also enjoyed the Food so much. I think Lina is preparing really delicious meals. Once we Had Fish with vegetables, Taro and Rice. I felt Like we are dining Like locals and thats why we Came Here. During the day we spent much time playing with the Dog puppies or Just wandering around and enjoying this magnificent, lush Landscape and the silence. The Tours (volcano, blue cave, custome Village etc) are organized by Mike - so completely stressfree. I would definitely come Back and recommend to stay with Mike and His family!

Memorable stay with warm hospitality and stunning view of Yasur

We had an amazing stay at Castle Treehouse in the bungalow. The view of Mount Yasur volcano from the deck is incredible and the location is good, right in the heart of the rainforest - it's very peaceful and green. The facilities are basic but comfortable and clean, and Mike and Lina went out of their way to cook delicious meals and provide what we needed for our stay. Mike was great at helping us plan our days and driving us around. We felt well looked after and had a very memorable and special adventure on Tanna. Thanks again Mike - hope to stay again!
