“Felt at home”
I had a really great stay at Wake Up Weligama. The hostel is super welcoming and social, with clean rooms, AC and hot water. The upstairs common area is amazing: a huge sofa, always windy and cool, perfect to relax and meet people. Big thanks to the volunteers (Abi, Lotte and Lea) for making everything so fun and friendly with surf sessions, dinners and nights together. As a solo traveler, they made it very easy to feel included. Also loved the two dogs, Blacky and Brownie. Highly recommended!

“Great vibes”
The atmosphere and community at Wake Up is truly something unique. The daily list of activities helps even shy travelers to experience Weligama with other hostel guests. Mahesh is so lovely and is one of the nicest hosts I met during my time in Sri Lanka.

The location was amazing, just 10 min away from the hostel. The host and all the guests were amazing, we all went for surfing in the morning and host makes sure of planning social events which I loved. Would recommend everyone to stay! ❤️ I could not stay there longer as I had to meet my friends in Mirissa otherwise would have stayed there longer.

Best hostel I’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka by far. So sociable, lots of activities (surfing everyday, family dinners, nights out, meals out) which everyone does together. Comfy and clean. Mahesh - you are the best!!!

Nobody was there for the check in and we had to wait for hours to get the keys, even if we texted in advance. Same for the checkout. Keep in mind that if you book the private room it’s not within the hostel, but down the road so it’s hard to get social with the other guests. The room was a bit dirty, the bathroom was leaking when it was raining and the shower has only cold water.

“Memerable stay with great people”
The hostel is tucked away from the busy street, but close to everything. The facilities are basic but the atmosphere is amazing. Mahesh, the manager and the volunteers will make you feel right at home. If you are looking for a fun community on the South coast, this is a solid pick!

Everyone in the hostel is soooo nice :) And so many activities are organized every day. Location also super accessible to restaurants, supermarket and all the surf schools.

Really great vibes from this social hostel. Friendly, welcoming and inclusive host who is packed with jokes and fosters a great social vibe. Daily activities and delicious family dinner. Great location, off the main road but there are nearby shortcuts which make it a very short walk to main road and beach

“Great family feel hostel- many activities”
Manesh is the best hostel owner!! He is so kind and organised so many activities- mostly not drinking focused which was amazing- surfing, cycling, ice bath, movie night, family dinner…! There is a real family feel to the hostels, the rooms are a good size, AC good and has all the facilities you need! I would highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun time in Weligama

“Nice social hostel”
It is a nice and social hostel, there are many things organised like, game nights, movie nigt, family dinner, surfing together etc. Rooms are big, and there is a locker for the important stuff
