Lovely clean and spacious rooms. Really friendly staff who are welcoming. Set in a nice surrounding and only a few minutes walk to the beach. Good breakfast and very accommodating.

“You'll regret not coming here”

Everything was perfect. From the welcome to the goodbye, we felt right at home here and wish we could've stayed more nights. Anke has made an amazing home for herself and for others as well. Malka and Surika are at the villa every day to help you with your needs and are truly friendly. They make the most amazing breakfast with the best scones and freshly made hoppers. There's a beach a very short walk away and it's really quiet and beautiful. We could park our own tuktuk in their garden. The room is very spacious and the bed is really comfortable. It was the best finish to our Sri Lanka holiday! One of the biggest plus for us was their new dog Sadie. It was a stray who came walking into the villa a month before our stay and they are now taking care of her. She's living her best life with a large plush bed close to the beach!

1) Staff. The staff is the true heart of this villa. Anke, Malka and Surika were incredibly hospitable, friendly and caring. Special thanks to Malka and Surika for the delicious breakfasts, their smiles and all the care ❤️ And thank you to Anke for the lovely conversations! From the very first moments we felt at home, and we even extended our stay until the end of our vacation. When we arrived, our room was already cooled down, and we were welcomed with tasty tea and sweets. On our departure day, we were leaving at 4 AM, the ladies kindly packed breakfast for us. 2) The Villa itself. You can really see how much love and effort has been put into this place. The territory is not huge, but it’s like a little piece of heaven. The photos on Booking are outdated. Now there’s a pool, two sun-beds with umbrellas, and lots and lots of beautiful greenery all around. At the entrance there is an outdoor shower and a tap for feet washing — very convenient when you’re coming back from the beach (which is only a 3 minute walk). There are 4 turtles living next to the shower, and we also spotted monkeys and chipmunks. 3) The Room. Very well thought out. Before this villa we stayed in three other places, so we had plenty to compare it with. * There are universal sockets, so no adapter was needed. * A new fan and air conditioner, both very quiet. * A mini-fridge with a jug of colled water prepared for us ❤️ * Three towels per person + beach towels! * Daily cleaning, no need to ask. * A bathroom scale. * A safe. * Lots of clothes hangers — and good ones, all matching 😁 Usually we only got random old plastic ones. * A shaving mirror above the sink, and the main mirror was full-wall in the bathroom. * On the bed there was a blanket, not just a thin sheet like most places in Sri Lanka. Yes, the climate allows you to sleep under a sheet, but at night we used the fan and it got pleasantly cool. 4) Location. The villa is a bit outside the center of Weligama.

“Tranquil oasis in Weligama”

Peaceful little paradise. We loved our time here. Beautiful garden and pool. Very sweet staff that makes you feel at home. Every morning homemade breakfast like fresh baked scones, banana bread, cookies and eggs. Perfect place for our family to land at the beginning of our Sri Lanka adventure!

A very special place to stay This is a truly unique accommodation, located a little outside the city center – but easily reachable by tuk-tuk. We had our own tuk-tuk, so for us it was absolutely perfect and the ideal spot to relax. The hotel only has three rooms, so if one is available don’t hesitate, book it right away! A real highlight for us was the pool, surrounded by lush tropical plants – it felt like being in the jungle. The staff was incredibly attentive, really listened to us, and gave us amazing tips for the rest of our journey. A big thank you again to everyone there!

Very good place, room is comfortable and clean 👍 Breakfast is amazing with many things to choose from. We had a electricity-power problems (as the owner said in whole neighbourhood) for one day, but the host is really polite and thoughtful, even gave us discount ‘cause of the inconvenience. For visiting Welligama you’ll need a tuktuk, or take a 20mins walk.

“Absolutely perfect tranquil oasis”

If I could rate South House more than a 10 I would. I have been incredibly fortunate to stay in some wonderful places on my trip through Sri Lanka. When I arrived in weligama, I did not like my hotel. I quickly moved to South House which actually cost less for an indescribably superior stay. I could not believe it was available! I was welcomed so warmly by Anke with fresh tea and home made cake. South House is a tranquil oasis a short walk from the peaceful and beautiful jungle beach. The pictures of South House do not do it justice - it is even more beautiful and made extra special by Anke, Malka and the team who will treat you like you are family. Everything has been thought of here and it is a truly wonderful relaxing experience. The food is amazing, Malka’s cooking is exceptional - do stay for dinner at least once, you will not be disappointed! I enjoyed hearing about Anke’s own travels and journey to South House. Glenn and Fiona you have created something very special here and I would love to return and will recommend to all of my friends! Thank you all so very much

Everything! The host, breakfast, location, pool, estetics. It’s very peaceful and relaxing. You should definetly order curry for dinner as they prepare the best one ever!

Exceptional hospitality. Great room

We had a lovely stay at South House being looked after so well by Anke and her team. This was our treat to ourselves at the end of our time in Sri Lanka and it was the perfect place to relax! The pool is stunning and the seating area is really lovely to sit and unwind. Breakfast was lovely and the room itself was so comfy and thoughtfully designed. The shower deserves a mention, I miss it!
