“Best Stay in Weligama”

I have stayed in several places in the South, and this is by far the best place I’ve ever stayed. The place is tucked away in a small village, surrounded by lush greenery and paddy fields. The bed is very comfortable, and the kitchen is fully equipped. But my favorite part is the balcony, it gives you almost a 360° view, perfect for sipping tea or having breakfast while taking in the beauty around you. The nature here is incredible, and the amount of animals you see feels endless. Above all, I believe what truly sets Sandaru Holidays apart is the hospitality. It feels like having your own family, like a mom, dad, two brothers, a sister, and two little kids. They made me feel completely at home. You can ask them anything without hesitation. Their kind smiles and the spontaneous juices or little treats they offer are genuinely heartwarming. Even the neighbors are mostly their relatives, so you feel very safe and surrounded by kind people. Speaking of safety, I felt extremely safe here. At the same time, I really value my privacy, and this place gives you exactly that. I’m quite introverted, and I had all the quiet time I needed without any disturbances. The location is also great, just 5 minutes to Weligama town by motorcycle. From the same road, you can also head towards Ahangama. It’s a slightly longer route, but the ride is absolutely beautiful. At night, it gets surprisingly cold, almost like being in the mountains. Early mornings and sunsets are perfect for a short walk to the main road, where you’ll be greeted by golden paddy fields and farmers going about their day. I honestly don’t have enough words to describe how amazing this place is. I’m truly grateful to Sandaru and his family for giving me such a beautiful experience.

Sandaru is a kind, humble and very friendly person. The place is very good and quiet. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. The room that I stayed had all the facilities like kitchen equipments, ac, fan, mosquito net,fridge, gas cooker, rice cooker, electric kettle. I felt like i was at my home. I would definitely RECOMMEND this place.

I had a great time staying at Sandaru's. Him and his family did everything to make me feel welcome and comfortable. He helped me renting a bike and for a little extra cost served home made breakfasts. I would highly recommend this place. There's no AC, so bear this in mind as nights in Sri Lanka can be quite warm.

Everything. Felt welcomed by the family and got treated so nicely, got a welcome-fruit shake and some nice treats through my stay 🫠 Loved the facilities basically an apartment, spacious and comfy. After 3 nights I extended my stay for the entire duration of my vacation. 🩵 the kitchen is fully equipped it was lovely to be able to cook and to just make myself feel at home.

My stay at Sandaru resort was wonderful. The owner and his family are very welcoming warm people, they made me feel like I'm their family guest. The room is actually the whole floor with personal bathroom, kitchen and all utilities incl refrigerator and also balcony with amazing tranquil view. The breakfast was very delicious and huge (for 2 person we paid only very low price). They even allowed me to leave my luggage till evening and then helped to order tuk-tuk. I would have stayed more if only I could ride a bike.

This accommodation was truly special. The flat is located upstairs at the back of the family’s house, offering a peaceful and private space. It’s fully equipped with a functional kitchen, a comfortable bed, small cabinets, a bathroom with hot water, and a charming balcony with cozy lighting and a lovely view. We stayed here for nearly two months and were treated to fresh juices, coconuts, surprise breakfasts, and dinners prepared by Sandaru’s talented wife. Sandaru is incredibly attentive and always ready to help with anything, from renting a scooter to organizing surf lessons or doing laundry. The Wi-Fi is exclusive to the flat and works great, and the location—about 2 km from Weligama center—is quiet and serene, with an easy road to get there. . We'd like to give a special mention to Sanduru's incredible hospitality and the warm, loving nature of his entire family — his wife, children, father, and everyone else who was always there to help us without hesitation. A wonderful mix of comfort, hospitality, and tranquility! Highly recommend for any length of stay⭐️❤ Couples will enjoy a lot!

This was my second time in this beautiful flat and everything was perfect again. The flat was very clean and the family is super nice, I am completely in love with the children. It won't be my last stay there.

Everything is just perfect in this place. You have a whole floor for yourself with all the facilities you need. This a bit outside of Weligama town so its perfect if you want some peace and nature around you. And the family is so nice and will help you with anything !

I booked the accommodation very spontaneously and arrived in the evening. I was given a very warm welcome and when I said I was hungry, they cooked me a large, delicious portion of pasta with vegetables. I was very surprised by the accommodation, it's like a small flat. With one bedroom, the bed was very comfortable and the bed linen very cosy. Then a kitchen with everything you need and a large bathroom with hot water. As a small recommendation I would say replace the shower head. It comes out a little less water,ok for showering,but washing hair would be difficult and would take a long time and use a lot of water. Then there is a large balcony with very nice lights. I was served a very tasty breakfast in the morning. The host family is very nice and even though I was only there for one night, I felt very comfortable. I will definitely come back and stay longer.

I stayed here with my girlfriend, the owner is a very nice and kind guy. He has cool children and the whole family, local people are ideal exampl of how you can be in the modern world. Very responsive, always willing to help, always gave me some food, more than once gave me rides to the city as help, very cozy, calm and quiet place. If you're in Weligama, I recommend staying here !!!

I think the Sandaru Family is the best of families. I have lived in four different houses in Sri Lanka, but Sandaru Holiday Resort is my favorite place. The Sandaru family is modest, kind and very responsive. They often gave me juices, fruits, and even prepared a real Sri Lankan dinner for me. And Sandar was always ready to help me. I liked that the house is in a quiet and peaceful place. There are many trees around, birds sing and you can often see monkeys. The house itself is small but cozy. The house has everything for a long stay. I will miss the Sandar family and Weligama. Hope we see you soon.

I enjoy staying at Sandaru place so much! It's 5 minutes by bike to the sea and central beaches of Veligama. You live in a forest with great natural scenery and wake up to the sounds of birds.

This is my second time in Sri Lanka, before that I was three months with my girlfriend. I lived here for one month, and this year I also returned. Already had one, lived for two months. These are my best friends in Sri Lanka, very good people. The owner met me and helped me find a motorcycle on the same day, very modest people, and kind. Thanks to them, I made a good impression about the people of Sri Lanka. Always ready to help me in any matter, they have a very friendly and open family. Very big family, I love their children very much. We often communicate and keep in contact. They also have a big father :) The apartments are very comfortable, modern renovation, beautiful balcony. They have a separate entrance, you will be alone, and meet with the owner of his family only in the garden. There is everything for a comfortable stay, you can cook your own food, but there is no sterile machine. Well, if necessary, for little money, they will wash, dry and iron your things. There are almost never insects and mosquitoes. Once a week they always offer to clean themselves and change bed linen, it's all free, they even put new soap and toilet paper ;) Very responsive and friendly, I fell in love with this family. For me, they made a special dinner on the balcony, they often treat them with different fruits, juices or coconut :) Definitely recommend this place, and most importantly people. After all, you can often intersect with your owner, and it is important what kind of person he will be. Next year, if I go to Sri Lanka, I will definitely return to their place :)))

Hello Happy 2022 from Lyova and Valentina! We lived with this wonderful family for two months! As soon as we arrived we fell in love with this house. We needed a cozy, quiet, clean place to live and the Sandaru family was able to provide us with all the conditions! Insanely friendly people, lovely kids!
