My stay at Mida Creek Nature Camp was just perfect. The location is great, so beautiful and incredibly peaceful, within walking distance to the creek and the village. The main road is near, so you can easily catch a matatu to go to Watamu or Kilifi. But best of all, Harrison is so friendly and kind, and he is such an amazing host. He will go above and beyond to make you feel at home from the instant you arrive. On top of that, the room I stayed at was so clean and comfortable, and the food they make is so delicious (they can easily accommodate vegan and vegetarian requests!). I really can't recommend them enough! Asante sana, and hope to see you next time!

“Slice of heaven in mida”
Mida creek nature camp was one of my most favorite places I have stayed in Kenya. This is owing to the fact that as soon as i walked onto the beautiful, neat , well kept grounds, full of natural structures, trees & birds - I felt an overwhelming sense of calmness and serenity. Most importantly what made my stay so special, was the people of Mida and wonderful hospitality of Harrison & his family. From the moment we arrived Harrison & his family went over and above to treat us not only as guests, but as friends. This made up keep extending and extending our stay as we didn’t want to leave. Nature camp offers not only a place to sleep but an immersive experience where you can engage with the local, slow paced life at the creek. We enjoyed walking around the village, swimming at the creek nearby, playing endless games for hours on end with Harrison’s children and nieces and nephews & sharing meals together. The breakfast is delicious and very generous in portions, tea is also served in the morning. Harrison and John are very knowledgeable and can give great local recommendations if need be. I must mention that while I found the accommodation perfect & very comfortable; it may not be for everyone. There is no electricity, only solar powered lights and a power bank. And you will have to use buckets to bathe and flush the toilets. The rooms are very clean and well kept, with nice bedding. It’s a true nature experience. The only thing that was wrong - that I couldn’t spend more time there ! I would love to come back to spend two weeks here. Thanks for everything Sasha & joe.

“Absolutely authentic, safe, beautiful & holiday of a lifetime”
My stay with Harrison was fantastic. He is an absolutely joyful and warm person, taking you in with his family and the entire village from day one. He and his wife are great cooks as well! I was always looking forward to the fresh Mandazi in the morning or some nice Fish, Chapati and Githeri in the evening. The place itself is really an oasis, with lots of fresh air and insanely beautiful nature around. Captain Daniel will be the best guide ever to take you on trips through the mangroves and the island in the creek that hosts some old and unstudied Arab ruins and a gigantic old Baobab. The Nature Camp is really something special and so much more authentic than going to just another beach resort. However, if you want to spend your time at the beach as well, it's just a 25 minute boda-ride away and Hamisi will set you up with trustworthy locals to show you around and keep you safe. So no better entry into the local life, nature, and people than through mida creek nature camp. ;) + Never lived in a real (and high!) treehouse before, rarely saw such a beautiful night sky, and never had an entire boardwalk house to myself to pitch my hammock in and look over the creek. What a beautiful time I had there, truly.

For those who want to experience the real African tribal culture, this is a truly it. You will receive an amazing welcome, experience the amazing traditional food that this tribe fishes and eats of the land. The host Harrison, will share so much knowledge with you and you will be able to see tribal dances and go on a canoe to amazing uninhabited islands in the mangrove swamp area. Nature lovers paradise.

“Amazing host, amazing location.”
The host is the most amazing host I've had. He'll kindly explain everything to you and make sure you have the best and easiest stay. Even when things don't go as planned, he'll find solutions. You will enjoy meeting Harrison and his family. Go and discover the Mangroves the tribe village restores and discover coco wine, these are musts !

“Magnificent experience”
I had absolutely amazing time here. Harrison and his team were great hosts to stay with. They were waiting for me with coconuts while they were telling me briefly about their heritage and what one can do in this area. They also do workshops on how to build a thatched roof or cooking classes which was amazing! Night on the tree was so peaceful, I heard bush crickets and had a nice view from the treetop everytime I looked around! This was a great choice!

If you can choose only choose one place to stay in this area of Kenya - make it this one. It is not only a camp for the night, but a way to learn about the lifestyle and community that lives around mida creek. Harrison, Daniel and the whole team took great care of me, and I can only recommend to go on a tour with them or to join the cooking class. The rooms are simple but clean, the food is amazing and you will spend time outside of the touristy areas at the coast. I am very grateful for the great conversations and this glimpse of local life that I could enjoy at Mida Creek Nature Camp!

“Truly unique and so memorable!”
A wonderful experience. Harrison and his family were very welcoming. We were made to feel more like visiting friends than customers. There couldn’t be more of a contrast with some of the sterile, foreign-owned hotels around Watamu. This was a chance to really experience the local way of life at Mida Creek. We benefited enormously from his local knowledge when it came to transport and sightseeing. The food was all home-cooked, fresh and lots and lots of it! Don’t expect European-style facilities, but if you want a truly memorable, life-enhancing experience, this is it!

This place is amazing, for nature lovers! I rated comfort less just because it would be good to have a comfortable place to charge the phone but all is stunning! Also the creek experience with Daniel, he is very kind, funny and knows a lot about it so you will never forget it!

We leave something of ourselves behind when we leave a place, we stay there, even though we go away. And there are things in us that we can find again only by going back there. Such a gem in today's modernity

“A peaceful christmas at the nature camp”
We spent four days over Christmas at the nature camp - it is so peaceful, truly in nature, surrounded by trees and the houses with palm roofs - all built by Harrison and team! We were only a few mins on foot to Mida Creek where we could see flamingoes every day. We ate there several times and the food was really great. We loved going to the creek at sunset with Daniel and Jonathon in a dug out canoe, we learnt so much about mangroves and it was possibly one of the most beautiful, peaceful places we've ever been. We also were treated to a Giriama dance on Christmas eve which was so amazing. The kids were so talented and put our dancing to shame when we got up to join! The best bit however is the team. Harrison is so welcoming and really takes care of his guests, and has a lovely family. Philip is so so kind and friendly, and a great driver! Recommend to future guests to bring power banks and also that there's a local shop 5 mins away for water and snacks for those that need.
