Overview
Hawea Hotel is located just 15 minutes' drive from the township of Wanaka and is set on the lake front of Lake Hawea. All hotel rooms, as well as the on-site restaurant and bar, feature beautiful lake and mountain views. The Hotel rooms include a flat-screen TV, private bathroom, a desk and a small seating area. All the Hotel rooms have lake views and private balconies. The Hostel Lodge rooms are located in a separate building from the Hotel. These rooms all have shared bathrooms, shared kitchen and a shared living area. The Hostel Lodge rooms do not have lake views. Located between the West Coast and Central Otago, you can enjoy the tranquility of the hotel or use as a base for skiing, fishing or hiking. The hotel is located around a 30-minute drive from ski fields including Cardrona and Treble Cone or a 30-minute drive from Snow Farm, where you can go cross-country skiing. The hotel is also located on the Te Araroa Trail, New Zealand’s longest walking track, which stretches the length of New Zealand. Queenstown is just over 1 hour’s drive away. Couples in particular like the location – they rated it 9.2 for a two-person trip.

A very nice experience, clean, comfortable and very warm. The restaurant and bar was excellent. Friendly people, menu on the slightly higher price side but it was excellent. The view over the lake from our room was incredible.

“Consider this place for your next trip around the Wanaka region.”
I stayed here instead of staying in Wanaka. It was more affordable and I had a fantastic stay, whilst only being a 10 minute drive from town. The staff are incredibly friendly, the pub on-site has excellent food and drinks and great vibes, and the location by the lake is a perfect base for hiking adventures or exploring the area by road.

“Relaxing in Lake Hawea”
Great location with spectacular views of lake and mountains. We loved the walks and an easy 5 minute stroll to local shop and cafe. Staff were personable and provided great service, and we enjoyed a delicious meal in the restaurant.

The bathroom features a bath and shower and bathroom amenities are provided.This room is yet to be refurbished. The room can be made up as a super-king or twin configuration downstairs, with a single bed and 2 double bed configuration upstairs. There is also a sofa bed that can be made up to accommodate a total of 6 guests.
Lake View Studio Hotel Room with Ensuite Bathroom
Featuring uninterrupted views of Lake Hawea and the surrounding mountains, this room includes a private balcony, free WiFi, a flat-screen TV with free-to-air channels, electric blankets, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. This studio can be made up as a super-king or twin bed configuration. A roll away bed can also be added if required, for an additional charge. Please note that 2 of these room types are accessible rooms with a walk-in shower and no bath. Please request an accessible room at the time of booking if required.
Lake View Family Hotel Room with Mezzanine and Ensuite Bathroom

It has an ensuite bathroom located downstairs, with a shower over bath. The room can be made up with a super-king downstairs and a double and single bed on the upstairs mezzanine.
Standard Lake View Studio Hotel Room with Ensuite Bathroom
Featuring uninterrupted views of Lake Hawea and the surrounding mountains, this room includes a private balcony, free WiFi, a flat-screen TV with free-to-air channels, electric blankets, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The standard studio room has two double beds and a single bed in one room. The ensuite bathroom has a shower only and no bath. This room is yet to be refurbished.
