It was difficult to locate as the signage is small. Around 10 mins drive from Petra. Room was cozy and nice. Great food. Mahmoud was a gracious host taking care of our needs.

The host Mahmud was so helpful and nice! He has turned the building into a super welcoming hotel for anyone staying in Wadi Musa. He gave us lots of good advice for places to eat, things to do and see in and around Wadi Musa. Also, how to organize our visit in Petra so we would make the most of our time there. Definitely take his advice on activities and feel free to ask anything. He managed to put together a camel ride to Little Petra for all 3 of us which was absolutely incredible. He will not give up until you are happy guests. I would 100% come back to Petra Wooden House and would recommend anyone visiting Petra to stay here. 10/10 host and hotel, with the best rooftop view in the city.

The hotel is located near the center area of the town. All the big restaurants for tourists are within walking distance. The house and its rooms are super cozy with nice view of the city and the valleys from upper level. The owner and his family members were so kind and caring. When we arrived on the first day he was in Amman but kept calling to ask if we are ok and if we need anything. Same thing happened for the second day, the owner called me when I was waking in Petra and asked if we need to arrange the taxi for us from the back entrance after we finish walking up the Monastery, because he knew we would be finishing the trek late after sunset. The third day, before we checked out, he went with us to the ATM to help us exchange some JOD as the exchange near by offered a terrible rate. Thank you for being a great host.

“Mahmoud Made Petra Feel Like Home”

We are from Ireland and stayed at Petra Wooden House in August, and it was honestly the highlight of our entire trip to Jordan. You not only get a real sense of Jordanian culture and hospitality, which you would struggle to get in a chain hotel, but you also get incredible insights and the most amazing food. When we arrived, Mahmoud sat us down, welcomed us like old friends, and explained exactly how to see Petra in two days. He gave us every tip, map and route we could possibly need so we didn’t miss a thing, and it truly felt like we saw Petra through a local’s eyes. He even gave us a complimentary upgrade, which was such a kind surprise, and then cooked us dinner that evening which you can add to your booking for an incredibly fair price. We ended up eating all our meals with him, and they were the best food we had in all of Jordan. What makes this place so special is Mahmoud himself. His warmth, kindness and genuine care for his guests are unmatched. Even after we had left for Wadi Rum, he went out of his way to organise a taxi for us to Aqaba at a discounted price. If you see this review, please trust me. You cannot go wrong staying here. I’ve travelled all around the world, through Asia, Africa and beyond, and this is genuinely one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. I left Petra not just having visited an incredible wonder, but feeling like I had experienced the true warmth and heart of Jordan through Mahmoud and his amazing hotel.

We visited Petra, a truly magical city, and had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful place. Our host was incredibly kind and welcoming, and we experienced genuine Jordanian hospitality from the moment we arrived. We stayed in a very comfortable room with a stunning view over the city. Mahmud truly goes above and beyond for his guests — always available, always helpful, and incredibly warm and open. We had some great conversations about everyday life and culture, and he was happy to share travel tips, recommend places to visit, and point out things worth paying attention to during our trip. There is also the option to have meals at the accommodation, which we highly recommend. We had breakfast here every morning during our three-day stay, and each dish was a real treat — prepared with love (and the hands) of the hosts. The same goes for dinner: delicious, home-cooked meals that made us feel truly cared for. If you're looking for an authentic stay with a hospitable host — and not to mention an absolutely amazing rooftop terrace — we highly recommend this place! The view from the rooftop, especially at sunset, is nothing short of magical.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Wooden House. The hotel is very nice and comfy. It’s ideally located in a calm street and very close to restaurants and stores. The host was very kind and gave us great recommendations, and even made a reservation at a restaurant for us. We can only recommend!

Cannot recommend this accommodation enough! The rooms are big and comfortable, with all the furniture built by hand by the host. The view from the room and the rooftop is incredible and we watched the most amazing sunset. It’s very conveniently located for a visit to Petra. The food in the rooftop restaurant is amazing and there’s so much! You’ll definitely leave feeling full. When we ended up having a flat tire in our rental car, the host took us to a local garage and stayed with us the entire time until it was fixed to help translate. It was truly above and beyond and so appreciated during a stressful situation.

The views from the room and the rooftop overlooking Wadi Musa and Petra is unreal .You can eat at the rooftop and request for traditional Jordanian food for dinner and breakfast . Mahmoud is a very hospitable host . He was very kind and warm towards me and my girlfriend , making our short stay comfortable . We stayed at the double room and the bed was very big . The sheets and pillows were soft and clean . Overall , Mahmoud was the perfect host and is willing to accommodate to your needs. I would definitely come back here again .

Perfect host , very helpful and explained everything to us and organised a morning taxi to little Petra. Spacious and clean with a nice lounge to relax in and a lovely rooftop area. We had a very good packed lunch for when visiting Petra.

Petra wooden house is an excellent option for a stay in Wadi Musa. The guest house is really comfortable, spacious, functional and clean, and so was our bedroom (we stayed at the recently renovated bedroom with bathroom). Mahmoud’s warm hospitality, guidance (including about the visit to Petra) and availability to help were really appreciated. The guest house has beautiful views to the town (and the family’s olive tree garden) and is conveniently located in a quiet road less than 5 min drive away from the Petra visitors center. The cherry on top was the delicious homemade dinner prepared by Mahmoud’s sister (favorite meal from our time in Jordan) which we enjoyed in the rooftop area.

The host is very welcoming and helpful. He puts a lot of effort into the house, so as a guest you feel really comfortable. Breakfast and dinner are home-made and served on the scenic roof-top. Can totally recommend this place!

Our stay at Petra Woodenhouse could not have been any better! The house is amazing, with beautiful rooms with wooden interior that is entirely self-made by the host. Another highlight is the rooftop terrace and dining area that provides an impressive view over Wadi Musa and Petra and where we could enjoy beautiful sunsets. Mahmoud and his family is extremely welcoming and warm-hearted. They even provided us with a beautiful local experience of cooking the traditional Jordanien dish Mansaf together. Our stay was very nice! The host could give us all information as needed and booked us a car, when we needed one. The room was very comfortable and had a beautiful view across the city. The entire accommodation is beautifully made and very clean. We had dinner there one evening and the food was amazing!
