Location

We stayed at Casa Carmelo for nearly two weeks after travelling by car from Scotland. We communicated with the host Pedro via the WhatsApp number provided by Booking.com. Pedro was waiting for us at the property with the house keys, which we greatly appreciated, as we hadn’t anticipated that Spanish border control at Santander Port would delay us by almost two hours. The house exceeded our expectations in size and was well-equipped for our stay. It was clean, offered ample parking space within its fenced area and included a grassy area with loungers for enjoying the sunshine. We travelled with our dog and although the property appeared dog-safe our dog, an escape artist, found a weak point near the barbecue, climbed the wall and escaped. Retrieving him was challenging as he became stuck in a nearby derelict house that we couldn’t access. Fortunately we recovered him, but he had to remain on a lead for the rest of the stay due to his strong prey instinct in the new countryside environment. The house is located a short distance from the town centre, though the return walk is quite uphill and requires some effort. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Casa Carmelo and would recommend it for a relaxing holiday.

The place is really kid friendly!! There were lots of garden toys to play with and this entertains kids for a long time!! The host and the owners were really nice and accommodating!! The area was relaxed with lots animals around and a beautiful view down the hill! The house has been recently renovated and so everything is new!! The washing machine was well hidden too!!
