Located in Villafranca del Bierzo, 21 km from Las Médulas Roman Mines, Albergue de la Piedra features views of the river. Located around 22 km from Lake Carucedo, the hostel is also 26 km away from Ponferrada Castle. All units in the hostel are equipped with a coffee machine. “Great situation”
I was fortunate to be upgraded to a single room, which was a wonderful surprise. The sitting the accommodation meant that it was very easy getting out onto the Camino quickly.

“Natalie is so helpful”
Good location, good helpful staff especially Natalie who helped me to phone the host in La Guna (my next day stay) to drive me to 7pm mass in O Cebreiro chapel. Also i love the single bed (not bunk), had a good stay there before the following tough uphill walk to La Guna.

Loved my stay but got confused why I was saving qr code on my phone for30 days until of the elderly pilgrims was eaten alive during the night but? Bedbugs

“Location, neat and homely!”
The property was clean, neat and the hosts were amazing! It was a hot day on the Camino and they organised a taxi to collect us.

“Great host & great food.”
One of our favourite stops on the Camino. We had a pilgrims meal with 10 others, very memorable. Host was exceptional.

Lovely albergue on the outskirts of town. Staff very friendly and very helpful with the washing. The bed was really comfy and it was nice not to be in bunk beds - the dorm was spacious and had a good bathroom. Great view over the river - would definitely stay here again

“A welcome respite on the Camino de Santiago”
It was very welcoming. We arrived quite late, but the hosts still agreed to do our washing for us, and returned it dried and folded which was lovely. They also prepared a substantial packed breakfast for us with our names on the bag which was a very sweet touch.

Very interesting, built into a rock. Very handy as it’s right on the Camino trail. Clean and good serves, kitchen etc.

“Excellent location while walking the Camino. Amazing staff.”
My Camino luggage transfer never arrived and the staff went above and beyond to get it sorted. The single room I stayed in had a fan and with the current heat wave, this allowed me to have a very comfortable nights sleep.
