Overview
Hotel Rex, set in an Art Nuveau establishment of the early 20th century, is placed in the heart of Viareggio. The Rex is less than 100 metres from the seaside and the pine wood. It is also a stone's throw from the pedestrian area where you will find elegant boutiques and a traditional open-air market. “Definitely More Than A 2 Star”
Staff very accommodating, room was ready early, so they let us check in .( they had already agreed to look after our cases anyway).Although they did not offer breakfast they recommended a place just 2 mins up the road that was as good as they said and very reasonably priced, just as the hotel was. How it's only rated a 2 star is unbelievable, it's 3mins to the beach. Comfortable beds and great air con . Will definitely be back to stay when we visit again.

The staff are very friendlly and respectful The room is clean and comfortable. The hotel is located near the station and the beach wich is a great advantage for guests with no car.

“Viareggio Visit”
Very central location, beach, woods restaurants all withing a few minutes walk. Train station only 10 mins away with easy transport to Pisa, Florence and further. Clean hotel, helpful staff. Beware there is no lift, not an issue for me but for some it might be. I used a bicycle to get around the town as its very bike friendly location and simple to hire from the many rental locations in the woods,, no hills and a great bike lane along the coast, It's a 2 star hotel so expect what you should get for 2 Star, great base if touring Italy I stayed for 5 nights before moving on to next destination.
