“Good thing there are lots of choice in Vasto during a late-starting vacation year.”
The apartment appeared to be only used as a vacation flop and not properly set up as a working apartment for cooking: no sharp knife for preparing food, no napkins or tea towels or a clean dish cloth or fresh kitchen sponge. A well-used blackened sponge at the sink suggested a period of gastro-intestinal distress and doubts about other surfaces. A lack of more than rudimentary furniture gave the place a bare, lonely atmosphere, but at least a good selection of cable channels. Messages from the host present a series of charges for infractions of failing to decipher the complex, multi-day regimen of garbage-recycling, as well as failing dish washing to an unspecified degree of completion. Host failed to acknowledge or show at the departure/checkout time we had set the day previous, so we locked keys in lockbox and left. Not interested in a host that sets rules and penalties for visitors and then can't be bothered to adhere to their own overreaching demands.
