“Beware. We didn't get the room we booked. Read review for balanced opinion”

Please read all of review to understand reason for rating. Stayed here 2025 gave a 9.0 review. Booked same ground floor queen room with garden view and large double bed for 2026 (booked April 2025 deposit paid as requested), for 2 seperate 5 night stays. On arrival for the first 5N were told room we had booked was occupied, were given queen room with balcony. Accepted this, did say expected room we had booked. The room had very little storage, just a small inadequate 'A' frame rack with 5 hangers. No chair in room, only 1 electric socket by the shelf, an extension cable was provided. Balcony is not attached to room, and is shared. Only one chair on balcony and a "bed" which is grubby needs maintanance. During our stay the room became very hot. There is AC, we don't use as it has a negative effect on our breathing and throat. The fan is good but unable to reduce the temperature enough. We couldn't fault the cleanliness of the room or the availability (by phone of Suji the Manager). On return for 2nd 5N stay Suji informed us we had the same Ist floor room. I asked why not the room we had booked he told me that room was occupied by someone staying for a month. I told him we were not happy with the allocated room. He provided contact details for owner in Italy who allocates the rooms. Messaged the owner and Booking customer services. He didn't respond to my question as to why we didn't have the room we had booked and paid for. He stated we had an upgraded room (we disagree and feel it is a downgrade) he offered a partial refund, and said it was the only room available. I told him we did not want to stay in the room. He said we could move the next day to blue sophy residence on north cliff. We had no alternative to accept. However this was a much better place. Admitedly it was an apartment, which we didn't need, but it had enough storage so we didn't have to live out of suitcases.

The room wasn't the one we booked, but we were willing to stay in another room. Am due to stay in this property again in approx 2 weeks, so will write a fuller review then.

Location is very good if you want to stay in south cliff it’s the perfect spot and manager and staff are very collaborative and efficient. Really recommend this place!

Once I got used to being in a budget room, I absolutely love being at Blue Sophy for a week. It is very convenient for the beach, but it's also on South Cliff, which isn't like crazy North Cliff; it was pretty quiet. The bed was really comfortable, the fan and AC worked and I always got hot water.

“Wonderful relaxing stay in peace and tranquility!”

Location was great with easy access to the beach, south cliffs and north cliffs. Host was fantastic. He answered all of our questions, gave lots of local knowledge and even took us grocery shopping on our first day. He also then arranged a scooter for us.

Blue Sophy on South Cliff turned out to be a clean and spacious house with a quiet rooftop offering a view over a beautiful garden. It was a stone’s throw from the beach and within walking distance of great cafés for breakfast. My room was clean and the bed very comfortable, and the bathroom worked smoothly throughout. Sujith was so friendly and kind - he took me to the beach a couple of times and showed me around, yet always respected my space and was available whenever I had questions. It was a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend it.

We got the back part of the house with a back porch. That made it very private. Lots of trees and very tranquil. Huge bed. Good parking space. Very nice place if you are staying a few days exploring Varkala. Host was helpful except for the wi-fi issues.

Very Good Location & Well maintained place. Excellent choice for a laid back vacation in Varkala South Cliff. Everything is in walkable distance. We stayed for 9 days and it was very comfortable. Manager Sujeesh is an excellent host. He tries his best to make your stay comfortable by helping you in all ways. Wifi is great incase anyone wants to work or something. Kitchen is well equipped. Cleaning lady is also there incase you need her for anything.

We spent one week at Villa Blue Sophy and it was amazing. 2 nights in a double Room, super cozy, comfortable bed, good vibe, charming. The rest of the week we spent in the apartment, more space, we could cook our breakfast, enjoy the garden view. Super clean, very peaceful, close to the beach and Ayurveda Center. And the owners were really friendly and available. It did fell like home for us. I will sure book there again when I return to Varkala. Thanks so much!
