“Delightfully quirky house - great host”

Casa de la Luz is a delightfully quirky house. It has a roomy master bedroom, bathroom and kitchen downstairs and, up a metal spiral staircase, a smaller bedroom and bathroom, separated by a curtain. The house is, initially, a little difficult to find, but it is well located, close to good restaurants, shops and local attractions. The owner, Jo, or her caretaker, stay in the house next door and guests have free access to their washing machine. Outside, there is an attractive and shady paved garden with a washing line and a small swimming pool. Jo was great - she was a mine of information and nothing was too much trouble. She helped to make our stay in Valladolid very special. I can highly recommend Casa de la Luz, providing you can cope with the upstairs arrangements - which weren’t a problem for us.

We found the house, even though it was located on a side street. The photos and instructions from the host were very helpful. The key handover was also perfect. The positive thing is that you are close to the center, a 15-20 minute walk away.

The house was well located in terms of position in the city. It’s close to one of the main square and there are cafes and restaurants at walking distance (5-10min). The house also offered some bicycles to explore the city. The host was very nice and easy to communicate with. She shared many recommendations for the city, and I’m very satisfied with the communication and the friendliness of the host. For example, a light bulb was not working and the host quickly fixed it and was always kind in the exchanges. Also, pool towels were included and having washing machine and the tumbler was a great plus.

“Villa in a good location.”

This quirky villa was in a good location. Easy walking distance into town and shops and restaurants. It had a kitchen and bedroom/ bathroom on the ground floor and a spiral staircase up to second bedroom/bathroom. The beds were very comfortable and had duvets which was good. It is situated along with another dwelling in an enclosed garden with seating areas and a very small pool, more like a plunge pool. Parking for a car within the locked enclosed space.

The house is actually great, there is also a garden with pool, but so many mosquitoes outside it is almost imposible to enjoy it. Free drinking water available, and bicicles to go around the city. Kitchen is fully equipped. The owner is very nice lady. House is located very near the main pedestrian street which is beautiful.

Jo was extremely helpful even before we arrived she basically gave us an entire tour guide of local spots and attractions. Also, the house was unbelievable, so picturesque, and the garden as well is fantastic. Pictures really don't do it justice, we wish we could've stayed longer.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Casa de la Luz in Valladolid, and it was truly the most beautiful home we've ever experienced. The city's charm captivated us, and this house served as the perfect base for exploring nearby attractions such as Chichén Itzá, Izamal, and Río Lagartos. The property boasts exceptional amenities, including excellent air conditioning in every room, complimentary tea, coffee, and water, and a fully equipped kitchen—actually, two kitchens! One of them features a traditional gas stove with an oven, which was a delightful surprise. The beds were comfortable with proper duvets, ensuring a restful night's sleep. Each bedroom even had a sound machine that played soothing sounds like rain, waves, and thunderstorms, enhancing our relaxation. With two bathrooms and a secure garden complete with parking space, the house catered to all our needs. Casa de la Luz is truly a dream come true. Every detail of this house reflects authenticity and thoughtful design. The wood is genuine, the stone is real—there are no faux elements or kitschy decorations here. The natural materials and craftsmanship create a space that feels both elegant and grounded, blending seamlessly with the charm of Valladolid. Staying here was like stepping into a vision of what a perfect home should be. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and eager to provide recommendations to enhance our stay. They suggested visiting Casa Ancestra , a fantastic bakery offering delicious freshly baked pastries (definitely You should try cinnamon roll!) The property's design is a delightful blend of rustic elegance and modern comfort, featuring high ceilings, tasteful decor, and unique pieces from around the world. Located just a short walk from the heart of Valladolid, Casa de la Luz offers both privacy and convenience. While the morning light and nearby roosters might wake light sleepers early, this minor inconvenience is easily mitigated with earplugs if you need it.

One of the most recipient hosts I have ever encountered. They were super eager to give recommendations and how to get the most out of your stay and quick to respond to questions. In the morning you can ask for the smoothie guy to pass buy your place for a delicious pineapple smoothie. Would go again

“Little Oasis in Valladolid”

Casa de la Luz is a hidden gem in the Valladolid area. Tucked away only by two blocks from the convento, it gives you the privacy and comfort of being close to everything. The home has tall ceilings and AC which makes it fresh for the intense Yucatan heat. The materials and design is a delight. The antiques and unique curated pieces from around the world, keeps a rural elegance that makes this place an true oasis. There is a lovely little pool at the back garden.

A lovely, quiet place not too far from the Convent, just a short half-hour walk to the center. The house is situated in a peaceful courtyard. Downstairs, there’s a kitchen, master bedroom, and master bathroom. Upstairs, there’s a second bedroom and bathroom, slightly smaller than the ones downstairs. You can use the owner’s garden pool, which is fantastic. The owner is also wonderful, a very friendly lady who is always ready to help. Highly recommended for a family stay in Valladolid.

“A gem of an apartment”

The apartment was beautifully finished. The beds were very comfortable. The pool was lovely after a hot day in the sun. There was a very short walk to the centre of Valladolid with lots of things to do. The host Jo was lovely. It was my daughter's birthday during our trip and Jo got her some birthday cake! She was also very helpful with local things to do. We had a fantastic stay.

Beautiful home in a perfect location with all the amenities and comforts! Beautifully decorated and atmospheric, with a very kind host on site to welcome you. The gardens are stunning and the site felt very secure, just on the edge of town so out of the main traffic and tourist routes.
