The hotel owner is a very very kind person who enjoys chatting with guests. It's a pity I only stayed one night, but the environment was fantastic, and the room was exceptionally well-appointed in every detail

This guest house is located literally right next to Utsunomiya station in a residential area so it's super convenient and also very quiet. The building is a beautiful old Japanese house that's been well preserved, I loved the old timey feeling. The owner is also incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. Although Utsunomiya isn't the most touristy area, he is more than happy to help you find things to do and make sure your stay is enjoyable and fun. I really enjoyed chatting with him and although my stay was short, I had a very memorable experience. I'll definitely come again!!

“A well-run, very welcoming and traditional stay right next to the JR Utsunomiya station”

The guesthouse is just a 3-5 minutes' walk away from the main JR station of Utsunomiya, making it very accessible and with plenty of facilities nearby; Having lived in Utsunomiya for 1 year, I can really recommend this location for anyone wishing to easily get about Utsunomiya and Tochigi-ken prefecture more generally. The house is quite charming, with a traditional Japanese style that has been well looked after and converted into a guesthouse. The owner was incredibly welcoming and responsive, greeting me every time I returned to the guesthouse and making sure everything was in order throughout my stay. The bathroom and toilets were clean, and the air conditioning was very potent.

“Extremely lovely small inn”

We would have paid more than twice for a basic room near Nikko, so we chose this inn for a trip to Nikko, and we loved it! Walking from Utsunomiya Station took about 3 minutes, and the inn has just two rooms and is in a quiet residential area. We had a room with four bunks as a private room - it was cosy, smelled good, and I had a very good sleep there. Also Utsunomiya isn't touristy at all, and we had some of the best sushi meals in a local restaurant there. Also, it is famous for Gyoza, but all gyoza places we asked at said they don't do meat-free gyoza, hence the sushi. I have no idea what there is to see in Utsunomiya, but is only 45min to Nikko by train, and this inn is great place to stop on a budget on a Nikko or Northern Japan trip thanks to its proximity to the station.

Everything was perfect and the staff went well above and beyond.

Location is extremely close to the station and mall, along with the main street. Lots of options to eat out (mostly gyoza, which Utsunomia is known for). Beds were super comfy. I loved that it was part of a home, and so it felt more cozy than the sterile apperance of a hotel. Good common room to meet other guests with low sofas and tables. Bathroom was large. There were also toilets/sinks upstairs and downstairs. Owner is super funny and offered me natto and his favorite snack to try.

Though we speak only a bit since we stayed for just the night, Mr Kageyama was probably the nicest host we had in Japan, contacting us after we left to check out our stay was good and giving us recomendations were to go. It is a honest traditional japanese house, not a hotel that pretends to be one, so is nice staying in the real deal. Really close to the train station as well

The house is really beautiful and the owner was really nice. The bed was perfectly comfortable and the house is really close to the station. I stayed only one night, but if I have opportunity later to visit the area I'd definitely like to stay here again.

Great location a short walk from the station. Other guests were quiet and respectful. The host was very friendly and we had a nice chat before I left.
