You want a break from the 'always-on' world we find ourselves in now? This was the perfect detox. Soft sandy beaches in a turquoise bay lapping onto a mini rainforest with your accommodation in a log cabin. And oh the food! You don't expect to find Michelin Star quality food on a small island in the South Pacific - but this became a highlight of the day. My timing of this trip meant I had limited time (5 days and nights) but just about enough to wind down and chill out. Sammi and Patti are the perfect hosts to help you relax and chillout.

This place is truly special. Patti and her team were incredible - nothing was ever too much trouble. The chefs, Sparky and Mate, cooked the most delicious fresh meals every day, and the whale watching tours with Vilemi and Aho were unforgettable. The location is stunning: even in high season it felt quiet, peaceful, and like I had the island almost to myself. It’s the perfect place to switch off and recharge.

True to its name. It is serene and quiet. Stunning with good snorkeling and pristine beaches. Great service from Patti, Sammy and the team. Delicious food served everyday by Mate and Sioni.

Beautiful rustic location. We really enjoyed the ambience of the place and friendly staff. It was also great to detach for a while. Very limited wifi, solar showers and lanterns all added to the ambience. The whale watching experience was fantastic. Thank you to Patti and all the staff.

Patti was amazing. From greeting us upon arrival, to sorting a dispute over the phone chargers with another guest, she was always approachable and helpful. Due to the windy conditions on one day while we were out on the boat, we were unable to swim with the whales. Patti offered a generous discount. Special mention to Jack, our guide on the last day, whose knowledge and experience was invaluable. The kitchen staff cooked wonderful meals. Our room was quiet and peaceful.

The location is absolutely magic. This place is so special in so many ways. The staff are absolutely incredible, the food was always delicious and everyone was so friendly and helpful. The guides for our whale swim were excellent, the respect for the animals is of the utmost importance. This place is truly magical and I couldn’t recommend it more.

The food was really good and it was great that you could use the kayak and paddleboard, seating area, yoga area and have lots of hot drinks throughout the day. Drinks weren’t too expensive and staff were very friendly.

The food at Serenity was very good - the chefs do a fabulous job! We had one of the older bure's and it could possibly do with a little update. The outdoor bathroom was fine but the plumbing left a bit to be desired! The island is all on solar power so lighting was low - very kind to the older crowd!! The staff were great - very kind.

This is a nature retreat, living in a basic hut with no electricity (portable lanterns for light at night) and no hot water on tap (outside shower under a solar-heated water bag).... we loved it! The owner and staff are wonderful and do everything they can to make your stay special. Enjoy getting back to basics on an island with crystal clear waters, just chilling, yoga, walking, swimming, whale watching, whale swimming (amazing!!!), snorkelling, kayaking and SUPing with hardly anyone else around. The meals provided were fresh and healthy, varied and not a preservative in sight.

The location is absolutely beautiful. The fale we had was open sided near the beach and was very private and comfortable. Mossie net was perfect. Staff were exceptional, Patti, Sami and crew were so kind and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. And the whale trip - cannot put into words how incredibly special this was. Swimming with these magnificent animals was a true privilege and an experience we will never forget.
