“Good homestay”

Large room, great AC & breakfast. Very comfortable & clean. Big balcony. Helpful host. Can walk 20mins to Jungle Beach via a cut through. Close walk away from the bus station to get to nearby cities.

I stayed at Rock Side Inn for 10 nights, and I truly loved my time here. The whole family is incredibly kind and helpful, they assisted me with everything I needed during my stay. On my last day they even helped arrange a driver for me, which was a huge help. The room is new, the bed is large and very comfortable, the air conditioning works perfectly, and the WiFi is strong. There is also reliable hot water and good water pressure. From the terrace you can enjoy the beautiful nature. I saw monkeys, squirrels, and many birds, which made the experience even more special. If you are staying in Unawatuna and looking for a peaceful, nature close accommodation, I highly recommend this place. The breakfast is delicious, and homemade. There is also access to the kitchen and bottled water is available. Thank you for everything!

Perfect place to relax and enjoy some nature. A small/medium walk away from the beaches. Amazing breakfasts and staff where we felt like part of the house. Opportunities to cook our own food too which was great. The place was clean, comfortable and full of life with neighbouring monitor lizards, monkeys and birds.

Beautiful and clean room, spacious bathroom and very nice balcony surrounded by green. Breakfast was delicious, mattresses very comfortable and you could only hear birds at night. The owners were very friendly and hospitable - we’d definitely stay here again if we come back to Unawatuna.

Nice hidden gem, close to all the action in Unawatuna but secluded enough for a relaxed stay. Very friendly and helpful family running the Guesthouse. I can highly recommend this place when staying in Unawatuna! Breakfast was a little different every morning but excellent each time!

The terrace! It felt like in the jungle, saw monkeys :) But it was up to the hill, usually tuk tuk drives all the way up, but for pick up you have to go down, it’s not that far:) Staff was really helpful, I didn’t find the place at first, but they navigated me and even asked if I want breakfast so they prepared one for me :) nice family

I really enjoyed my stay at this little oasis in the jungle. The family were very nice and helpful with renting a scooter. The room had a balcony where I could sit and enjoy the sounds of the jungle. The breakfast was nice also.

“Warm hospitality and authentic local experiences”

New room with a very comfortable kingsize bed with mosquito net, very good air conditioning, and a bathroom with a ´hot’ shower. A cozy terrace where you can watch the monkeys and other jungle animals. Amazing local breakfast!! And you can ask to have local tastful diner too. The warm hospitality of the family was outstanding — when I got feverish, they took great care of me with Ayurvedic treatments and herbal tea etc. PS: There is a shortcut to jungle beach (20 min walk).

This accommodation was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The apartment is surrounded by beautiful greenery and truly feels like a little paradise for watching wildlife — monkeys, squirrels, and many different kinds of birds. The real highlight, however, is the outstanding breakfasts prepared by the owner. You can enjoy them on a spacious terrace while observing all the animals around you. The owner is happy to adapt the breakfast to your preferences and prepares it at the time you choose, which makes the experience even more special. The room is very well equipped, with both air conditioning and a fan. There is also a mosquito net, although there were practically no mosquitoes, so I didn’t even need to use it. Towels are changed upon request, and for a small fee, laundry service is available, which I personally used and appreciated. Some guests mention that the apartment is a few minutes uphill, but this didn’t bother me at all. I rented a scooter from the owner for a very reasonable price, which gave me complete freedom to move around every day without depending on other transport. Tuk-tuks also come directly to the apartment and can easily be ordered via the PickMe app. A big advantage is the separate kitchenette, fully equipped for anyone who wants to cook for themselves. The owner is also happy to prepare lunches or dinners upon request. Overall, the breakfasts were a true experience, and it was wonderful not having to worry about anything — just waking up in the morning, opening the terrace doors, and finding breakfast already waiting ❤️. Another plus is the hot water in the bathroom. Communication with the family was perfect from beginning to end. They are always kind, responsive, and willing to help with anything. If I ever return to Unawatuna, I would definitely come back to this warm, family-run place. I highly recommend Dewatta Beach for surfing — lessons cost around 3,000 LKR per hour. Incredible value for money, very spacious rooms and working TV and air con!

“Lovely homestay with nice owner”

We really enjoyed our stay here- staff very friendly and a very nice breakfast was available each morning. The room was comfortable and the private terrace part was lovely in the morning and evenings. Good location, about a 15/20 minute walk to the beach, restaurants, shops etc

Peaceful location but a 25 minute walk from the main town up a busy road but you can get a tuk tuk if you don’t like walking and the owners will order you one on pick me if you don’t have it. Short walk to an ATM and supermarket Very close to a bus stop Room was clean and aircon worked well and was quiet. Bed was comfortable and had mosquito net. Big balcony. Could use kitchen if needed. Had a fridge. Lovely owners who were helpful and welcoming

Delicious breakfast, very kind hosts and great location, a short walk to the main road which takes you down to Unawatuna or up to Galle. Also just next to a nice walk through the forest to get to jungle beach and the peace pagoda. Beautiful nature all around the place, which gives it a very peaceful feel.

Very friendly and welcoming host family - made me feel at home. The home-cooked Sri Lankan meals - both breakfast and dinner - were delicious and filling. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable, with good aircon and a small sofa. And a nice bonus to have a small kitchen too. Loved the peaceful location, on a small hill, surrounded by "jungle", but just a short walk/tuk-tuk ride to the beaches and restaurants/cafes. Most of all, enjoyed simply relaxing, working and eating on the large terrace, overlooking the forest canopy.
