Apartment is absolutely amazing, with a beautiful terrace and breathtaking views. The space is spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained. The owners are exceptional—friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything you need. They also offer a tuk-tuk service, and the owner can personally show you around, which makes the experience even more special. Breakfast is available at an extra cost. A truly wonderful and memorable stay.

“Brilliant homestay in Unawatuna”

Kris is an incredible host with a talent for hospitality. I loved staying at this homestay near Unawatuna. The apartment I choose was newly developed, perfectly clean, spacious, private, and well equipped. Kris was really friendly and welcoming. He helped me get around wit his tuktuk and made sure I had everything I needed for a safe and comfortable stay. Breakfast was delicious, plentiful and great value for money. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone visiting Sri Lanka.

“The perfect stay”

Wow! Honestly one of the best places we have ever stayed. Everything is perfect, so clean and spacious. It feels like a tranquil slice of paradise. Khris the host is one of the nicest people we’ve ever met and consistently goes above and beyond. The optional breakfast is absolutely delicious and plentiful. Don’t hesitate to book here!

We absolutely loved it here Chris the owner was so welcoming and friendly. Our room was brilliant and the view from our balcony was stunning a great place to relax any time of the day. I loved it first thing having my coffee. We had the optional breakfast and it was fantastic . Old chilli house is away from the main busy area and road so you’ll get a great night sleep. Can’t recommend enough!

During our three-week trip through Sri Lanka, this was by far one of the best places we stayed – actually probably the best. The room was honestly amazing, so beautifully done and everything felt brand new. You could really see the attention to detail. The view was incredible and made the stay even more special. The facilities and equipment in the apartment were better than anywhere else we stayed – everything you could possibly need was there. Breakfast was also nicely prepared and always a great start to the day. KRIS was such a wonderful host. He took care of everything and made us feel completely welcome. He even drove us around with his tuk-tuk whenever we needed and was always there to answer any questions. We truly felt looked after the whole time.

This is probably one of the best value for money accommodations that i have stayed at. The apartment is big and there is a minute attention to detail. The balcony was big, with fantastic views, a ceiling fan, and an electric socket making it ideal both as a location for work as well as for leisure and relaxation. The host was so friendly and attentive and speaks impeccable english. Felt more like a home away from home than an accommodation.

It really felt like a home away from home! It was very clean and had everything we needed. It was decorated so nicely and the view from the balcony was amazing. Kris was exceptionally welcoming and kind and took us to see some famous spots in Unawatuna. We loved chatting to him and getting to know the Sri Lankan culture. I can’t fault the stay at all and would have loved to stayed longer if our itinerary allowed it! Thank you so much

“Tranquil retreat , immaculate apartment, fantastic host”

Beautiful apartment in a very quiet neighbourhood but writhing easy reach of beaches and shops. Kris was an amazing host with nothing too much trouble. His cooking skills are tremendous and would say of you are staying ask for a meal to be cooked by him and served in your apartment. The plunge pool newly added is a delight and very welcome. Thoroughly recommend.

Kris, you're a wonderful host! Thank you for a wonderful time at your hotel! 💖 The view from our room was stunning! We stayed in the new, top-floor room, which was the best of our stay in Sri Lanka. The kitchen is gorgeous, fully equipped, and every detail has been thought through. There's a large, comfortable terrace and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom has excellent water pressure and hot water. It's about a 12-minute walk to Una Beach, and about 20 minutes to Delavella Beach, a beach with turtles. Kris can take you to nearby tourist spots in his tuk-tuk, which is very convenient if you don't have a bike. Booking a tuk-tuk to your hotel through the app is also easy.

Kris made us immediately feel welcome in the Old Chile House, he is very kind and helps you out with all sort of things (recommendations, booking for a trip). The place is beatiful, on the balcony it feels like you are in the jungle with all the birds singing. You have a lot of space with everything you need. There is also a communal area with a plunge pool which opened recently.

The host is amazing, such a lovely family. Room is amazing clean and large Loved our stay here

“Beautiful place, beautiful host”

The surrounding, flat and host are beautiful!! Perfect way to start your trip in Sri Lanka, a slice of peaceful paradise amongst the business of unawatuna. The host made it special, he really went above and beyond to make our stay perfect! We already miss the accommodation. Breakfast super yummy - arrange of fresh fruit and amazing Sri Lanka omelette which you can have on the veranda listening to the birds. Plunge pool is cute and refreshing Thank you, Lena & Paris

“An outstanding property run by the best host you could wish for!”

Great views over the local area. We got to stay in a new self contained area with kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and outdoor veranda which was so nice! Kumara our host was so welcoming, friendly and helpful during our time there.

“Exceptional stay with amazing host ❤️”

The property is clean, well-equipped with facilities. Kris is a real gem of a person. He arranged the airport transfer for us with a local, gave city tour, arranged private tours and showed us around. He stays with his wife and 3 kids in the same house on lower floor and his wife cooks amazing breakfast. Hospitality was amazing. The house has a lovely balcony and sitting area to relax. Bedroom and bathroom is tidy and spacious. Location is slightly isolated but quiet and peaceful. Tuk tuks are also available nearby. Our stay was exceptionally good. Will definitely recommend!!

“Must stay to experience the Sri Lankan island life!”

The property and homestay both are very beautiful - clean, well designed and decorated, spacious, well stocked with all essential items. Kris is an amazing host and super helpful - my mum and I stayed with him for three days and felt comfortable, safe and taken care of. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Unawatuna!

“Peaceful, beautiful stay”

I had a really beautiful stay here- it was my first place in Sri Lanka and Krishantha was so warm, welcoming and helpful. The room was very spacious, beautifully furnished, extremely clean and had a lovely peaceful vibe. I slept so well and enjoyed watching the birds on the balcony in the morning. I felt really safe as a solo traveller and Krishantha has a tuk tuk so can pick up and drop off when needed. I’ve been in Sri Lanka for 2 weeks now and moved around a lot but the Old Chilli House was still my favourite place. I really recommend it for a relaxing, beautiful stay. Very good value for money too! Thank you so much :)

Wherever I go abroad I'm looking for a cosy and homey atmosphere. This place turned out to be the perfect choice. Beautiful view, comfortable bed, terrace where you stretch out your legs. It is 10 min from the village by tuktuk. This way was much better than staying in the village where you get hustle and bustle day and night.

We had a brilliant and very comfy stay at the Old Chilli House. The room was beautiful, Kris is super friendly and has lots of suggestions and tips. The house is a bit outside the centre of town but is just a short tuk tuk ride away and is very peaceful.

Out of all the places we have ever stayed in in our travels, this is truly the best one! Kris was always willing to help us and willing to share his knowledge of Sri Lanka. He told us great suggestions on what to do and he also makes an amazing breakfast! He is definitely in the right profession! He also has his own tuk-tuk and took us to places at a very fair price and also for example to see the temple and the city of Galle. We loved the area and how calm it is, and the building itself truly feels like home. We especially loved chilling on the terrace area and listening to the nature. For me cleanliness is the most important thing in a place, and Old Chilli House was extremely clean even for my standards! I really recommend this place and we will definitely be back if we ever come to Sri Lanka again!
