Excellent accommodation, delicious breakfasts, which are varied every day, from food to drinks. The location is super convenient because there is a train station nearby, the sea can be reached in 5 minutes, a supermarket is 10 or 15 minutes on foot, the hostess is very friendly. The room has excellent air conditioning, hot water, and a bathroom right inside your own room, meaning you don't need to go outside. There are a lot of plants around the house, so you can see monkeys and chipmunks at breakfast.

The best accommodation I stayed in during my three weeks in Sri Lanka. The space was well-maintained, very clean, and organized. It was the first time I saw a wardrobe in the room. There's a very well-equipped outdoor area where you can cook. There's a dog named Rex, who is very friendly and docile. It was the first time I saw a dog in Sri Lanka being well cared for. The hostess is very attentive, helpful, and gives good suggestions. We rented a scooter for a fair price. I highly recommend this accommodation. I was sorry we only stayed two nights. Thank you for everything, Tharanga.

“A relaxing stay”

Pretty much everything. It's a comfortable stay all around. Tharanga is fantastic and a lovely person. The air con works like a dream. Bed is comfortable. Room is clean. Breakfast is well done. There's even a communal fridge that you can put drinks in.

The owner was super nice! She made us the most delicious breakfast! Also, there is an open kitchen that you can use and a fridge - which is a big plus. I think this accomodation can be described as the absolute best value for the money! Air conditioning works great, room was very comfortable! Includes hot shower!

“The kindest, sweetest host, comfiest bed and best stay in Sri Lanka”

Our favourite stay in Sri Lanka! From the very start we were greeted by Tharanga, who showed us to our room straight away. The rooms were clean, comfy and had everything we needed! Tharanga then brought us up some fresh lemonades, and explained to us all about the things to see and do in Unawatuna. She also sorted a scooter out for us and our laundry which was so helpful! Nothing was an issue at all whilst staying here. Tharanga was the most amazing host, drawing us a beautiful drawing that we will keep forever! The breakfast was different every morning and was so tasty! We would definitely come back and recommend to anyone to stay here!

Great value for money, in a very nice area away from the hustle and bustle. Surrounded by jungle and monkeys. Room was very comfortable with a nice breakfast. Awesome host who helped organise a scooter for us.

Our stay at Monara was delightful. It is outside the hustle and bustle of the town but very easy to get a Tuktuk and definitely walkable. Tharanga was the perfect host. She ensured that we had everything we needed to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We availed of the laundry service while here which was an added bonus. The air conditioning was excellent and the room was spotless. We highly recommend staying at Monara Backpacker Inn.

Thakanga welcomed us perfectly. She is speaking a very good English. The accommodation is a bit far from the beach, but the advantage is that it's very quiet. If you need, you have a lot of possibilities to rent bikes or motorbikes.

Host was very nice and help us with everything. We rent a scooter for two days and really enjoy our stay here

“The best hosts”

This place was just perfect. Simple room, but very clean, confortable bed, AC working great, good hot shower. The location is very close to Unawatuna train station, which is very quiet and away from the crowds. But the best is the hosts: an amazing family, that did everything to make us feel like home!

Very kind and warm host.The rooms are super comfy with AC which is why I booked in first place.It is easier to get to location from train station by tuk tuk.The breakfast here is the best breakfast i have had in Sri Lanka..the pancakes are amazing n Taranga's fruit juice game is on point 😃She also helps with scooty rentals n there is rex the doggo who will make your day.Can use pick me app or scooty to go to Unawatuna, nearby beaches n galle.Highly recommend!

“Very good and quiet alternative to loud Unawatuna”

Very nice accomodation a bit outside the hustle an bustle of Unawatuna. For us this was perfect, because we don`'t like to stay in very touristy areas.It was very quite and a nice room. The host speaks very good english and they have a three-leged nice and friendly dog. The room was very nice. Breakfast ok. Parking right in front of te room.
